    2008/2010 or 2009?

A familiar script is being followed. Steelers start out 6-2 and lose a tough AFC game at home afterwards to go to 6-3.

2008: Steelers lose 24-20 to the Colts at home to drop to 6-3.
Result: Steelers go 6-1 the rest of the way and advance to Super Bowl XLIII.

2009: Steelers lose 18-12 to the Bengals at home to drop to 6-3.
Result: Steelers go 3-4 the rest of the way and miss the playoffs.

2010: Steelers lose 39-26 to the Patriots at home to drop to 6-3.
Result: Steelers go 6-1 the rest of the way and advance to Super Bowl XLV.

It's 2011, and here we are again. Steelers start out 6-2, and lost another tough game at home. This time to the hated Ravens to lose the season series to them. Just like 2009 to the Bengals. What's going to happen now? Will we see another 2009 collapse?

Two road games coming up. At Cincy, who is playing pretty inspired this year, and at Kansas City, where the Steelers have historically sucked no matter how good/bad the Chiefs are. Ironically, Cincy and KC are the two teams the Steelers lost to during their bad losing streak in 2009.

    Interesting...

This weekend's game will go a long way in determining what direction they go. IMO, this is a must win.

Meh...history means nothing. If they lose Sunday, they'll be all but out of the playoffs.

Not even close to true. That would be their 4th loss. If they come back after their bye and go 5-1 or even 4-2 providing one of their remaining losses isn't the home game to the Bengals, then they'll probably make the playoffs.

This team reminds me too much like 2009. This Steeler team has one legitimate victory, and that was because LeBeau implemented a game plan that he probably will never use again, and 4 turnovers in 9 games? That is a damn joke

    Never use again?

He used in against the Ravens!

It's not that we didn't go to that well, it's that we went there too often....

It's the NFL, not the NCAA. There are no "LSU vs the Helen Keller School for the Blind" matchups in the NFL. With all due respect, the "legitimate victory" argument doesn't hold water at the NFL level.

So was it a "legitimate" loss when the Saints lost to the Rams, or the Giants lost at home to the Seahawks, or the Ravens lost to the Titans and Jaguars etc...

If you don't bring your best every week you can lose to bad teams. We all saw this in 2009.

Does today count as a "legitimate" victory?

No because the Bengals don't have any legitimate wins.

The 7 victories are all illegitimate victories because they were division III teams. Our Fox sports ranking needs to be higher or there goes our BCS ranking

This. The 2005 season was, in the end, absolutely brilliant. Loved Super Bowl XLIII, but XL was the first time I saw the Steelers win a Super Bowl.
