Yes, this needs to be addressed in the off season.

I would have never signed Suisham.

Kris Brown is even better than Suisham

True but if given the choice, I would feel more comfortable with Reed kicking it in..

Until he misses a kick. Then the criticism comes pouring in, just as it did last year. Just as it does with any kicker.

Yea well with Suisham I feel we might as well flip a coin for the 3 points. Reed has missed a few too but he was more consistent IMO.

Suisham has had some tough kicks too. Yesterday was a perfect example. 48 and 51. We're forgetting he hit the 51 yarder, too in a big spot for us.

i guess kicking field goals is the least important duty of a kicker

I'm not going to waste my time reading this whole thread, way too many posts about a kicker. No way you keep head case Reed and yeah Suishi has got to go. No one including any of the coaches has faith in him outside a 35-40 yarder and there is no guarantees on those either. We will not win big close games until we replace him.

Have you been smoking crack? Kris Brown was terrible. He was making about 66% of his attempts when we let him go. He missed 14 field goals in a single year, for god's sake. Suisham is struggling right now, but he's still not approaching that level of awful.

Listen, I'm not sold on Sushi as the long-term answer either, but it's nowhere near the same. He's basically the definition of an average kicker in all respects. That's way better than the shit parade we had before Reed. Still worth trying to see if we can do better, because he's only average. But if we don't come up with a replacement this offseason, I don't think it's a full-on crisis.

Reed was solid for the Steelers for many years. He was money. He lost it last year and when a kicker loses his confidence, it's over.

    Re: Does Suisham worry you?

No need for debate, he sucks . Kickers are supposed to make FGs , specifically in the big moments and theyre even more glorified in the playoffs. He didnt have the vote of confidence from Tomlin against the Ravens, he missed one in the Super Bowl, and he missed one with the shot at the Number 1 seed . Just with the hesitation and worry of Tomlin sending him out there shows that hes just a guy waiting to get cut. Check out some of those UDFA rookies, or work some out, Just dont ever sign that kid from Oregon in the future lol.

Yes he made the 51 which is not an easy kick but I think I speak for most when I say I was more surprised that he made the one FG then I was when he missed the 48.

Did you see Suisham on the sidelines Monday night? He certainly didn't look confident to me. He looked lost/scared out there. I certainly don't think Reed is a top 10 kicker or anything and I'm definitely not a Reed lover but if I was coach and had them both sitting on the bench, Reed would get the nod to kick the ball before Suisham did.

Now, in all fairness.. if I was responsible for the well being paper towel dispensers, napkin holders, or anything else.. I would definitely feel more comfortable with Suisham on my side than Reed.

I was shocked that he made that 51 yarder and not surprised when he missed the 48 yarder.

I'd pick Reed every day of the week over Suisham...even right now.

Yes, but on the bright side he has made 100% of half of his kicks over 40 yards!

Waters was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on February 10, 2011. He was released on September 2nd and is currently a free agent.
