For Steelers, Hoke's value can't be overstated
For the 18th time in his 11-year pro career, Casey Hampton won’t play because of an injury. The man generally regarded as the NFL’s most disruptive nose tackle is still nursing a sore shoulder. So he’ll watch from the sidelines today when the Steelers play the Jaguars.
No problem.
When Hampton goes down, the Steelers call on Chris Hoke, one of the most remarkable backups in any pro sport.
If Hoke pitched in the major leagues, his record as a starter would make him a serious Cy Young Award candidate.
If he tended goal in the NHL, his winning percentage would put him in consideration for the Vezina Trophy.
If he were an NFL starting quarterback, his record would make him a candidate for league MVP...............
