PITTSBURGH --
Burglars recently targeted the home of Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton in Point Breeze.
City police spokeswoman Diane Richard confirmed on Monday afternoon that the home was burglarized sometime last week, but she did not immediately have the specific details of the case.
Hampton, who's listed at 6-foot-1 and 325 pounds on the Steelers' roster, was out of town when the burglars broke in.
A police news release said that officers from Zone 4 were called to Conover Road on Thursday and were met by someone who said he is a personal assistant to the homeowner who lives there on a seasonal basis.
The assistant told police that he called them after he went to the home and saw that the alarm system had been removed.
Police found that the inside of the home had been ransacked and "numerous items" were reported missing.
No arrests have been made as police continue to investigate. Anyone who has information can call the burglary squad at 412-323-7155 and may remain anonymous.
Hampton, 32, signed a new three-year contract to stay with the Steelers after last season. He's a nine-year veteran and was on both of Pittsburgh's Super Bowl teams in the 2000s.
