Obviously, a franchise QB is far more crucial. But, the odds are that the team picking #1 overall will be drafting in the top ten again in 2019. Get the “once a decade” RB now, and get your franchise QB next year.
Given the carnage RBs experience (Dalvin Cook the latest) and it being a pass first league, any GM taking Barkley with the first pick would be betting his job on it turning out well - most GMs probably will not make that bet
The franchise tag cost of a RB compared to other positions is an indication RBs are not as valued as they were back in the day
- Quarterback: $21.395MM
- Running back: $12.377MM
- Wide receiver: $15.826MM
- Tight end: $9.894MM
- Offensive line: $14.444MM
- Defensive end: $16.955MM
- Defensive tackle: $13.468MM
- Linebacker: $14.754MM
- Cornerback: $14.297MM
- Safety: $10.961MM

2017 College Football QB Watchlist
I think he’s definitely a Top-5 pick. I guess if the Browns, Colts or Giants wound up with the number one pick I could see it but I tend to think the Giants would lean towards a QB to replace Manning. The Chargers have Gordon and I could see them look towards a QB to replace Rivers...
I watch them every week and the things he does week in and week out are ridiculous. I haven’t seen some of the stuff and now he’s throwing TDs too...lol

Re: 2017 College Football QB Watchlist
For those that like game film of QBs, see what you can find on East Carolina senior Thomas Sirk. Would love some critique on this guy. Has size, speed, arm strength and accuracy. Not sure why he's not in more conversations. His comp% are lower than you want, but is that due to quality of teammates or flaws in his delivery? Curious what the forum thinks about this guy.

Re: 2017 College Football QB Watchlist
This is almost as big a highlight film for WR#3 Anthony Miller as it is for Riley Ferguson. Both seniors and both will be available in 2018 draft.

Lynch's NFL highlights with Denver from last season. This is with his first OC, before the Broncos changed(Dennison).

Ryan Finley vs Louisville 20/31 367 yds 1td 0 int. My guy still playing at a high level. Still yet to throw an INT this season!!

Re: 2017 College Football QB Watchlist
It is my belief that Paxton Lynch is a bust. He had ample opportunity to win a starting job in Denver and didn't even make a competition of things. He doesn't have what it takes between the ears. This is common knowledge here in Denver as reported by those in the media that regularly attended practices. You can have all the physical gifts in the World if you do not have the head for the game it doesn't matter. I'll bet Lynch has a short lived NFL career that doesn't amount to anything worth remembering.

I think that may just be the case if he stays in Denver. What I am saying is he has the physical tools to win here. Haley is a perfect OC for him IMO. (Had the Browns selected BB, how would his career look today?)

And giving up draft picks for him would be insane

I wouldn't give up a Colin Holba 6th rounder for Lynch.

I understand your Memphis bias Brother. Physical skills aside. The word is Lynch doesn't have the mental makeup to play the position in the NFL. Physical skills mean very little at the highest level if you don't have the mental processing ability to read and react to complex NFL defensive schemes.

I love that "Memphis bias" part. I do have that for sure. LOL! That said, I still feel what I feel for the Steelers, my first team. AND I think Lynch would be great here.

He threw 100 yds to 2 receivers and 99 to another. Gotta love that ball distribution.

Re: 2017 College Football QB Watchlist
Some more "Memphis bias", LOL.
Riley Ferguson 34/48, 431 yards, 7TDs, 70.8comp%
Anthony Miller 15rec, 224 yards, 4TDs
(Against UCONN, who is terrible this year. Stats pad game. But damn!)
BTW, the senior starting RB made his return last night also. 22 car, 122 yards, 2TDs. Had not played this season due to injury.

Rosen (not listed) is going to be the first QB taken. The rest, could go anywhere from 3 to 43.
And, I've seen every one of them mocked to the Steelers, except for Sirk (and Rosen).

I think UCLA was on a bye last week. Only reason I don't have Josh Rosen listed. Sirk is new to the list. I watched ECU play USF, and Sirk was making some incredible reads and throws in that game.

I figured that you hadn’t listed Rosen, because despite his “attitude”, he is easily the best QB in this draft (i.e. there’s no way that we get him).
Everyone else... it depends on who you ask. Some have Ferguson ranked second; others have him ranked fifth.
Yes. Sirk is one of those guys who will creep up draft boards. The Twitter guys that I follow like him a lot.

Re: 2017 College Football QB Watchlist
Barring a bunch of QBs returning to school (not sure how many are eligible to return though pretty sure Falk, Mayfield, and Rudolph aren't eligible to return) there should be a 1st round QB worth taking when the Steelers pick in round 1. Next year looks like the year to get one in round 1

There WILL be several QBs available at 32.
The trick is drafting Derek Carr (and not ending up with Geno Smith).
-
Re: 2017 College Football QB Watchlist
A team would do well to have a scout who did nothing but evaluate QBs.

Kevin Colbert was on hand to watch Luke Falk play against Cal. Luke Falk didn't put on a good show though as he threw 5 INTs, and his team lost 37-3 to a team that was unranked

Yeah I concur on Grier. He's got a very accurate ball. I'm not sure how he translates but he's become intriguing at the least.

That's 21TDs to 5INTs in 6 games.
In the two losses, he completed less than 60% of his passes... which goes along with the theory that if a college QB doesn’t average at least a 60% completion rate, he’ll never make it in the NFL.
