Deshaun Watson

Okay, so tomorrow is a big legal day for Watson. The Grand Jury meets and decides whether or not to pursue criminal charges. So say he walks free from these with only civil legal stuff left to deal with; do you make a trade for him? Right now some people are saying the Eagles are the top team to go after him but I'm just curious what others here think.

All his legal stuff aside he's a great young QB under 26. But do you want to drag the Steelers name through the mud like it was back when Ben was accused of stuff?

not gonna get into all the how much it might cost part of it because he has a no trade clause in his contract and he was very specific where he wanted to go last year and that was Miami ...

now how much of that was The coach ( if that was it the coach is here now ) the thing about no trade clauses is a player can dictate where he goes and if its a limited amount of landing places that also minimizes the cost esp if the team pays him to sit ( as the Texans did last year ) so what might look like Three 1st round picks could possibly be 1 if he says its Pittsburgh or I can keep sitting and be paid because I am not playing for you ....( a HUGE portion of his contract is guaranteed ) would be a mess to sort out so you( as in Texans ) might be forced to take what they can get ... that said if he likes Seattle they could pay a kings ransom and still have a lot of draft picks to use on draft weekend

Yeah I just watched this video on it which got me to put the post up.

Seattle looks like the best spot for him or the Eagles because they both have a ton of draft capital. But if Watson wants to win a Superbowl the Eagles aren't close and the Seahawks are in a fire sale mode. Assuming he got cleared, I would give up the next three first round picks for him in a second. He's 26 year's old and would make us instantly a contender. That said he would have to agree to restructure his contract to help with the Cap.

Why do people keep saying the Seahawks are in fire sale mode? They dumped two of their largest salaries to become a team with the third most cap room. They still have a decent core of players that they can build around. If they dump Carson and Metcalf and Lockett and Adams…then maybe. All they’ve done to date is dump two large salaries.

in fairness .... all but 2 of these allegations was done so in a $$$$ court by women of less than desirable character for me when someone does this its not a sign of wanting justice its a greed game , and or an attempt at legal blackmail if you will ....hoping the guy with the money caves to save his reputation from being dragged through the mud .....

Watson has maintained his innocence all along and has refused to pay a dime ....

cases like this OFTEN are fake and the pile on of more and more cases often times is just more of a me too movement that someone seems to lend credibility to all the cases before , after all so many couldn't be lying now could they ?? they absolutely could be I have no way of knowing and consequently nobody else does either potentially including the courts because there will not be any evidence of a crime taking place , and here we are back at he said she said .....

For me....it is a pretty easy test. What would your response be if your daughter (for the purposes of this hypothetical we are providing you with an adult daughter) told you that she was taking a job alone and unaccompanied at Deshuan Watson's house?

In this hypothetical scenario where we both have adult daughters and mine told me that...my answer would be the hell you are.

FWIW, and I have no idea, I think today is the day that all Watson's accusers find out if there is going to be a case in criminal court. Prior to the grand jury, I believe their only option was a "$$$ court" - which I assume you mean civil court. Like I can't just take my neighbor to criminal court. The state or some other law enforcement entity has to do that.

I don't know Mr. Watson. I have no idea whether he's guilty or not. We do have a criminal justice system that is supposed to figure this sort of thing out, instead of some dudes on a Steelers message board. So, I'll withhold judgement until that esteemed system does its work. And yes, I am also aware that the CJ system is not perfect. Nothing created by man is.

That said, I've been working with and along side of hundreds of women for 50+ years and I've never been accused of being inappropriate toward any of them. Is that because he's a multimillionaire and I'm a pauper comparatively? I have no context within which to make such a judgement, but I doubt money is the motivator for all of these women. Could be though, I guess. Mojouw's point is also a strong one: I have an adult daughter, would I trust this person around her? She's a strong lady with her own sound judgement to rely on, so I will have to think on that one.

As for him ever becoming a Steeler; I think we're WAY premature in this speculation. He has to be cleared of a LOT before that would ever become an actual possibility that warrants discussion here.

I dunno. I have a hard time judging folks for enacting the only recourse they have as individual citizens. You can’t force the state to bring a criminal case. But you can force a jury to hear a civil complaint.

And just make the job a quote for installing tile or taking photos of Watson for his social media account. No need to limit the hypothetical. I think AB assaulted a personal chef.

Maybe Watson isn’t a criminal but he sure seems like a creep and potentially shady dude.

I’m too lazy to link it but ESPN has it that there are at least 8 women suing also have opened cases with the po po.

At this point it likely doesn’t matter.

But Watson is almost certainly guilty of naughty wiener stuff. And his fame and cash will shield him from some of the consequences just as every other famous naught wiener dude.

I mean yeah they could but it doesn't make much sense to me that they would trade a top tier QB in Wilson just to flip those assets for a QB that is a notch below, albeit younger. Maybe I'm wrong.
