Free Agents (a little early, but...)
Reading up before the Lions played the Bears on Thanksgiving, and the Lions are not going to re-sign (or they will cut??) Darius Slay.
That would be one of those sneaky signings that Colbert loves to make.

Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
I'd like to see us sign Case Keenum to be in one of two roles: 1) bridge QB if Ben isn't healthy or retires. 2) top-flight back-up if Ben returns.
With a good defense and a solid offensive supporting cast, I think Keenum could duplicate his 2017 year with the Vikings. Basically, if this 2019 Steelers team had Keenum at QB, we'd be contending for a top-two seed in the AFC.

Good call
I’ll throw a name out there: Cam Newton

I'd say Cam if Ben was completely out. But that's too big of an ego to play bridge or fill-in.

Indeed  If Ben doesn’t recover...
Otherwise, it’d make the Ben-AB relationship look like The Notebook.

Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
Take a low cost flier on Mariotta? Bring his broken game into camp and see what you can get? Of course, Paxton Lynch is already filling that role...

No to Keenum, he's a one year wonder at QB and you're putting him on a team with a regressed o-line and no receiving. No thank you

Totally agree. He was horrible in Denver and sucked in Washington and those two teams are basically us with shitty defenses.

Bro...
Darius Slay??
Fitzpatrick, Slay, Edmunds, Haden, Nelson and Hilton? You should go to jail for suggesting that...
-
Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
If Ben were out...Phillip Rivers?
-
Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
Would you continue to possibly work a trade for Le’Veon?
Would you put up some money for a Derek Henry or maybe Ekeler (RFA)?

Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)

Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
Hunter Henley at TE?
How about some WR names? Spend coin on Amari Cooper?
-
Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
If they sign a big FA it'll be re-signing Dupree Imo. Maybe he gets tagged.
-
Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
There’s a whole lot of LOS guys on both sides of the ball...definite room for improvement or depth there...

NB: Hilton, Sutton
FS: Fitzpatrick
FS/SS: Haden

He’d play circles around the current QB room. His passer rating this year is 95.

So Haskins must be much better because he lost his job to him this year.

Derek Henry running behind this O-Line and with this defense? Oh boy, Steelers football would be back in full gear!
I'd love to take a flier on Trubisky if Chicago moves on from him

Is that really how you think it works? Is that why Kurt Warner was benched with the Giants? He's a first round pick and the Redskins suck. They're going to see what they got in Haskins. I'm pretty sure you knew your argument was a straw man before you clicked post.

that's a joke right?
Rivers is mediocre at best.
while we're at it lets say Eli...at least then you can say he's a 2 time super bowl champ not a chump like Rivers.
-
Re: Free Agents (a little early, but...)
Just throwing a name out there for discussion. Wouldn’t necessarily want him on the roster but if Ben can’t play because of injury, there’s worse options out there as a stop gap than Eli/Rivers...like Rudolph...lol.

Rivers is just as bad as Mason is there's no difference to me.
One 'fluke' season doesn't mask how putrid your career has been.
Last year made me laugh and still does where all the media outlets had Rivers pegged as a 1st ballot HOFer...like fuck.
What's it based on?
Plus I don't like a guy that chirps when he's losing that's just called being a douche bag even more than what you already are.

I apologize. It was not my intent to direct any derision towards you.
It’s just that I find Philip Rivers to be the douchiest player I may have ever witnessed.

Brady still gets my vote in that regard.
Watching Brady scream, carry on, and show up his receivers over and over again is nauseating.
Poor Tommy doesn't have 10 seconds to throw on every pass, and guys aren't getting wide open on every play????? Welcome to the life of every other quarterback in the NFL asshole!

At least he keeps his douchiness ON the field.

Man....I can't believe I'm gonna say this....but c'mon man, Rivers isnt that bad. He has every right to be considered for the HOF.
9th in career wins
8 time Pro Bowl QB
6th in career yards
6th in career tds
10th in career rating
You don't get those kind of numbers with 1 fluke season.
Let's be fair here...if Dan Fouts, Sonny Jurgensen, Marino and Moon are in the HOF...Rivers at least deserves consideration.

The 3 you mentioned made their respective teams BETTER! Especially Marino.
I'm not sure how you can continually go 4-12, to at BEST 9-7 for 8 straight seasons with one playoff season in 2013 and be a HOF player. He's made ONE (singular) AFC title game and that was in 2007.
yes 2018 was a FLUKE season his other 'great' record seasons he had LT at running back, nuff said.
from 2010 to 2017 here's the teams records....9-7, 8-8, 7-9, 9-7, 9-7, 4-12, 5-11, 9-7, and then the fluke year last year 12-4 and as we stand here today 4-8 with 4 to play.
that 'consideration' is exactly that, you'd consider him when you run out of guys to put in the HOF and even then it would be up for debate.
i mean what signature plays has Rivers made?
signature games?
the only 1st ballot HOFer from 2004 resides in Pittsburgh and it's not even close.
