Bills home game in Jeopardy
with potentially up to 6 feet ( yes you read that right 6 feet ) of snow clearing the stadium will be the least of their worries ...
getting out of your house and to the stadium , opponent getting into town etc etc ....
what can the league do to fix this issue because anything less than a home game ( and not one in name only ) is an unfair disadvantage to the Bills IMO
will be interesting to see how this unfolds
as a side note prayers to everyone in that region because football is but a game and 6 feet of snow is life threatening on many levels ( roof collapsing from weight , power lines down , trees down , no heat , power etc )

Re: Bills home game in Jepordy
My parents lived in buffalo before having us kids and told us one storm accumulated / drifted to the second story of their home.

Re: Bills home game in Jepordy

note the lack of height of the goal posts prior to the cross bar .... shows just how deep that snow is

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
Thoughts and prayers being sent to all those in Buffalo that they remain safe and warm.

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
That's an insane amount of snow.

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
I grew up just South of Buffalo, the people in the North are usually well-prepared. I remember in the 70's (blizzard of '77) where cars were completely covered etc.
If I'm the Bills, I am suiting up and getting ready to play. If the opponents don't' make it, then they forfeit. They can fly into Cleveland and drive over, or Pittsburgh and drive up. They are not tied down to flying into Buffalo, figure it out or forfeit.
The NFL should not need to interfere, how many games in Buffalo have ever been cancelled / moved due to snow? If teams could make it during the 70's they can make it now.

that is all well and good provided you can get to the stadium , most players do not live in the city and I am in doubt of driving ability with that much snow ( or even a place to park once you get there )

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
2 more feet due by Friday. That is one big load of snow to try and move out by Sunday.
Too bad they just can't turn the stadium upside down and shake it out. 6 feet of snow in a stadium that seats about 80,000 people. Plus parking lots, etc.
And it's only November. :chuckle:

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
Play the "home" game in the Meadowlands like the Saints had to.

They are offering to pay fans to help shovel the stadium out.

I don't think it is possible to play football in snow that deep

10 bucks an hour. You'd have to pay me a LOT more than that to bust my ass shoveling that kind of snow. And it's probably a safe bet that it's that really wet snow (read: HEAVY) as well.
Besides, where the hell are you going to shovel all of it to? And that's actually going to prove to be a logistical problem for the whole area. I remember when we had a blizzard in the Denver area back in '03 where we got about 4 feet of snow overnight and the public works department wound up having trouble finding places just to put all the snow that was cleared from the roads, parking lots, etc. I can only imagine the headaches more than double that amount would cause.

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
I'm sure they're also telling everyone except emergency personnel to stay off the roads, and that's if people can even get through at all.

West Seneca, New York resident James Grimaldi flew a drone over a neighborhood that had an estimated five feet of lake-effect snow.

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
Well, at least it's a game that most likely doesn't matter for shit.
Funny thing, I hear it's supposed to get up into the 50s and 60s in Buffalo over the weekend which will melt all the snow ... leading to flooding. That aside, playing the game Monday night in Buffalo probably ought to work.

way to much snow to melt it all off ... warmer temps and rain will reduce that nearly 7 feet of snow in some areas to probably half that , but it will freeze over night into one big ass block of ice ...
Game is going to be moved according to nfl.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...day-in-buffalo

That's a good call on the league's part. Regardless of the fact that I would love to see a snowgame, public safety is too important, and burdening Buffalo with a game right now would just be stupid.

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
They shovel Lambeau Field all the time when it snows here - - I believe that they pay volunteers $10 per hour and they should bring their own shovels if they can..... They usually have between 800 - 1000 folks show up on game weekends and sometimes they have to shovel two times.... They have it down to a system - - they put plastic sheets down the stairways between the rows of seats and the snow is pushed from the seats and the foot areas to the plastic sheets where is slides down to waiting trucks at field level that fill up and take the loads to some big empty farm fields nearby.... It does help that Lambeau has bleacher style seats with benches and no divided seating outdoors.... My son-in-law and his brothers used to make beer money by shoveling, and most of his nieces and nephews have also done it.... He says that it was kind of fun, and the local taverns reaped the rewards as the shovelers usually 'warmed up' before they went home.... The field at Lambeau is heated and covered, so it just needs to be uncovered and it is always in pretty good shape....

Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
The bills lead 38-3 vs Jets......ouch!
-
Re: Bills home game in Jeopardy
How the hell did we lose to the Jets? And don't tell me 4 turnovers. Because we were beat in the trenches, both sides of the ball. Never did we look to be the better team. .This is why I could easily see the Steelers losing out.

Pass rush. Bills had one against the Jets, we didn't.
