Re: Brandon Aiyuk To The Steelers?
Blame any WR contract. Justin Jefferson. Chase when his gets done. Etc.
49ers rolled the dice when they let it go this long. Hoped Aiyuk would see his market cool. It didn’t. The end.
This isn’t Lamb’s fault. This is where this was always headed unless Aiyuk blinked.

As long as you don’t pay to watch games on TV your cost should be largely stable.
I’ve not been to a stadium in years. Assume they’re still giant operations to separate you from your money.
But TV deals are how the NFL gets paid.
My advice? Pirate every game you can.

They’ve forced that on people. Make YouTube package in the $10-$15/week range and you’d have more subscribers opposed to the $30-$35 price it is now…

Everything I watch on my TV costs me money. My cable bill keeps going up. I'll keep watching though as entertainment has a cost as it should. It's the price you pay for being a fan.

I don't disagree. And to be fair to the NFL....they don't set the price of the packages. That gets set by YouTube after some bean-counter finds out how much they paid the NFL for the broadcast rights. Small distinction. I can't get too mad at the NFL for taking dumptrucks of money from tv broadcasters.
I do not know how the broadcasters think they are going to make any money. ESPN's layoffs are largely because people cancelled cable and/or selected packages without ESPN and they couldn't hit their previous income projections and got stuck with the bill for NFL games and high earning on air folks. YouTube, Amazon, and whatever other pay service jumps into the fray are likely going to lose money in the long run as well.
But back to my point....don't pay for stuff you don't want or don't agree with the price for. Cut the cord, became a rampant internet pirate, whatever. Screw 'em all. Watching shows and sports I like shouldn't be a dang choose your own adventure novel of stupid options.

I had to get rid of cable. They kept raising my rates and then told me it was because stuff I didn't use was getting more expensive. BUT...my cable company was a ridiculous service and a poor company....hope others are better.

I cut that cord many years ago ...I was in panic mode when I did it but I put a rooftop antenna on my front porch roof and it gets me 21 channels CBS being the main one as KDKA Pittsburgh ( generally about 2/3 of the games are on that channel ) I put a rooftop antenna on my back porch roof and that gets me Fox and a dozen or so other channels .... we have prime video and netflix so the only time I have an issue is if its on espn at that point I head to redit and find a stream or use a FB group if I must as there is a stream there that is always up

These WR contracts are stupid now and no one can convince me these will benefit teams when it comes to wins and losses.

After that, I think an argument could be made that a TE is more disrupting than the rest of those WRs, harder to find and worth more money.
Exactly. If you can get Marvin Harrison Jr, then you pay him. But the rest are replaceable with a pick in rounds 2-3.

I've said this for years. The NFL and its greed are ridiculous. If they just followed what MLB did and let you pay for ONE out of market team instead of forcing you to buy the whole package they would make a lot more money. I paid around $100 bucks for the Phillies this season on MLB.tv. Totally worth it. I would easily pay $100 bucks to stream all the Steelers games on YT as well but refuse to pay $479 dollars, especially when a 1/3 of those games will be on other channels like ESPN/NBC/Amazon. It's $379 if you choose to stream with YouTube but then you're paying another $72.99/month all year for TV, mostly of what I will never watch.
We haven't had cable/direct tv since 2017. DO NOT MISS IT AT ALL. When I visit my mom in Florida and watch her Direct TV I remember how many commercials there are and it is hard to watch anything because of them. The same with NFL games, nothing but 2.5 hours of commercials with 12 minutes of game action.
But as it turns out the NFL may lose anyhow. https://observer.com/2024/07/youtube...sunday-ticket/
That article talks about what I just said above and the NFL already lost the first round of the anti-trust trial for price fixing and collusion. I hope the whole YT deal crumbles.

Re: Brandon Aiyuk To The Steelers?
Maybe some day. I’d gladly pay for a Steelers package…

That's good. I'm in the Rocky Mountain area, thus the forum name. An antenna only brings me the nationally televised Steelers games. Nowadays to get them all at a livable price you have to be very creative . And maybe be a pirate like Mojouw says. "But I don't want to be a pirate"! ;) But if I must....

Re: Brandon Aiyuk To The Steelers?
NFL+ is $99 a year and gives me every game, condensed games and all-22, on demand right after the game concludes. Been using it for about 7-8 years.

That sounds pretty good. For the price it wouldn't bother me to watch the game right after the game. Just stay away from the scoreboards until you've watched it.

For me it’s easy being on west coast time. Games are played in the morning. I come home from church and I’m good to go without the commercials.

Nice to avoid the commercials. Definite advantage over real time. I watch the same way for that reason so the NFL + would be a nice price and viable option for me.

At that rate just wait for the game recaps on YouTube for free. They basically show you all the highlights and scoring plays.

If you're looking to watch the game and the flow of it that doesn't work.

Lol. I’m interested in more than highlights.

Re: Brandon Aiyuk To The Steelers?
So the choices are looking like:
NFL+
Sports bar
Or Highlights
if this is our make or break year before the rebuild maybe the choice is 1 or 2. (No i don't think Fields will be anything more than a backup)

Firestick, get online and add Kodi , then the crew “add on”. It takes about 45 minutes first time you do it. You can stream every game. UFC as well if that’s your thing. One time charge of approximately 30 bucks.

You should get VPN so you don’t get caught.

I gave up on that Kodi long ago. It just kept getting blocked and cancelled and reinstalled…it was a pain in the ass.

Re: Brandon Aiyuk To The Steelers?
So it seems like Aiyuk wants his money AND the chance at a Super Bowl.
Niners are willing to give him the Super Bowl chance but not the money or maybe not the length of contract that he’s looking for. They probably want 5, he probably wants 3 and another chance at a deal. The Niners can’t do 3 and get the other players done…
The Patriots and Browns will give the money but no chance.
Steelers will give him the money and almost no chance but for some other reason (Tomlin maybe) he likes the team.
