To add to that Kat-
What if I choose not to keep the maximum number of players allowed in my keeper league?
If an owner chooses not to keep the maximum number of players allowed, they will draft a new player from the available pool once all keepers have been retained. For example, assuming a four team league with a maximum of three keepers, where two owners choose not to keep three players, a straight (not snake) draft will occur as follows:
1st round:
Adam obtains first of three keepers
Brian obtains first of two keepers
Chris obtains first of three keepers
Dave drafts a player from available player pool
2nd round:
Adam obtains second of three keepers
Brian obtains second of two keepers
Chris obtains second of three keepers
Dave drafts player from available player pool
3rd round:
Adam obtains third of three keepers
Brian drafts player from available player pool
Chris obtains third of three keepers
Dave drafts player from available player pool
4th round (regular draft selections for all owners):
Adam drafts player from available player pool
Brian drafts player from available player pool
Chris drafts player from available player pool
Dave drafts player from available player pool
5th Round (regular draft selections for all owners and snake format begins):
Dave
Chris
Brian
Adam
etc.

I understand exactly what you and ESPN is saying, but keeping with the order of things for this league, the number of 10 was just an initial # to set up the keeper option, On 12 Jun 11, I posted:
That was just a number that I set to initiate the keeper set-up. We have a roster of 21 players keep in mind. Let's see if we can get a league majority on the set number of keepers.
No one replied, in fact to date 8 and 2/3 of the 12 owners have already made their selection for their perspective teams. So, with that said, the majority of the league has no problem with 10 players for keepers. I am really hoping that the 3 and 1/3 owners that have not selected their 10 would just go with flow.
Besides in all fairness each team is required to drop 1 of their top 2 highest scoring players from last year, with the concept you suggested that means if an owner doesn’t drop all of the required keepers they would have the first choice of the highest players dropped before the rest of league all able to participate in the draft, that’s not fair.
It's a big issue. Is someone checking the 1 of the top2 scoring being dropped? Plus who wants to be forced to keep scrubs? Second if someone not keeping 10 gets first pick, it totally screws it up. I think the keeper numbers needs to be reduced to a reasonable level. Who has 10 they WANT, I seriously doubt anyone.
The majority of league owners have already made their selection of ten players that they are keeping for their perspective teams. So, over half the league has 10 they want. Nobody is forcing anyone to keep "scrubs" as you call them on their team, what's being asked is that every owner pick 10 players out of 21 players that "they chose" to be on their team last year, to remain on their team this year.
Don’t Take Things Too Seriously – It’s a Game After All
All the above things can be summarized with this one. Fantasy football is a game. It is a fun, participatory game that isn’t played individually in most situations, but as part of a group. It is meant to be fun. It is meant to build friendships, camaraderie and football savvy. It is not supposed to cause hurt, pain, or break up relationships.
But, unfortunately, it does.
As with most things in life, feelings and emotions get in the way. People take things seriously that shouldn’t be. Family should be taken seriously. Religion should be taken seriously. Some would argue politics should be taken relatively seriously. A game should not be taken too seriously.
When owners get too wrapped up in the game, begin to take everything said or done in the game as though it is a personal affront to them, they quickly bring the spirit of the game down, sapping any enjoyment of the game for all involved. They take things out on others in the league, begin arguments about nothing that matters, and for the most part make people wish that they’d never joined the league in the first place.
Don’t be that guy, or girl.
Enjoy the game for what it is.
Have fun.
Play to win.
But most of all simply play to have fun!
If after everything I've said, still can't get you to see that majority rules, and won't let you drop the beliefs you have, I don't know what else can be said.
This is what I see:
Team Suit: Roster Trophies Schedule Tran Log
Oh I agree totally with you Kat, I was just providing some additional information for some of the other guys so they knew what would happen if 10 players weren't selected and why it is is so important that they do select 10 players. I didn't mean to cause any confusion. ;-)
Thank You Hitman, I appreciate that very much.
I think it might be you taking it too seriously. All I did is post some concerns. I don't take any of it seriously and am one of the owners who long ago submitted keepers, BUT I submitted plenty that I don't care to have on my roster and will be drops as soon as the draft is over with. I believe there are many teams in this league in the same position. That is all I'm saying . IDC if it's addressed or not.
Moving right along.
Got it! Turns out I had TWO accounts with ESPN for some reason, and was accessing the wrong one.
I'm glad you got it taken care of.
Keepers selected. I think I did it right.
You're good to go. Thank you
Just realized our draft is scheduled right in the middle of the preseason game against Atlanta.
I'll be at that game, so autodraft, here I go!
If it can be changed then of course
as long it's not at the same time as the SU Yahoo league though
How about Sunday 28 Aug at 3:00pm ET?
Sorry (ducking).
I'll be at the Indians game then. Hey, what can I say, I like live sports!
You don't need to accommodate me, but I did think that it would be a problem for a lot of people to draft in the middle of our preseason game.
It's not fair for one person to hold up the whole league. I can draft any night starting this Sunday (21st) through the 25th. I can draft next Sunday night after the game (it's a 1:05 start). But, like I said, if it's a problem just draft without me...
How about Saturday Sept. 3rd at 8:00pm ET?
That's fine...I will NOT schedule anything for September 3rd at 8 PM. I might be going to the Akron/OSU game, but that's at noon and will be over at 3PM, so I should be home by 6, 7 at the latest...
So it is Sept. 3rd at 8 for sure now?
Yes, for sure.
I almost accidentally scheduled a triple feature at the drive-in movies. Last weekend for it and haven't done it this summer, but caught myself at the last minute. LOL!
So with the draft so close, shouldnt our rosters be empty except for our keepers?
Also, one of my keepers is now out for the season with an ACL, am I just shit out of luck?
One more thing...anyone know the Draft order? I think i should be picking 5th, but Im not sure, any way we can find out before the draft starts?
Unfortunately that's the way it is as far as injured keepers, I'm in the same boat, I have Terrell Thomas CB on injured reserve but he was one of my selected keepers, I can't change him out, I can, but will not disturb the integrity of our league. Non-keepers will be removed 1 hour before draft. As HTG said, your draft order along with your waiver order is displayed on your team page.
Looking at the pre-draft ranking system, it would appear that the site hasn't weeded out already kept players, so there is no real way to pre-rank other than to guess which players might not already be on teams.
