I wouldn't trust this guy's research as far as I could throw you or anyone else on the board. And since I am a fat out of shape scrawny middle aged dude...I'll let you reason the rest of it out.
Just because someone makes a cartoon for adults...doesn't mean they have the foggiest idea what they are talking about. And, no, I have not watched the video and don't need to. From his website with anti-vax stuff, why you should drop out of school, and how only buying this dude's books on business/reasoning -- I know everything I need to in order to evaluate his claims.
There is plenty of room to have discussions and debates on masks and every single other issue. But, I beg everyone, do a better job in discriminating between legitimate sources and just things that aren't even in the same ballpark.

All of these offer insight on what seems to work and what seems to not. They also document the messy and 2 steps forward one step back process of the scientific method. Small sample sets often lead to retractions when later studies get a larger pool of data to interpret. It doesn't mean that "experts" were wrong or intentionally misleading. It means that at X date the best available data (and it may have been like only 12 data points) said that A was the best practice. Then at a later time Y with more data (say 92 data points) A can be demonstrated to be an artifact of small sample sizes and the current best available answer is B.
That is how the scientific method works. Science has never proven any single thing. Ever. In the entire history of humankind, we have never proven anything. All science does is eliminate competing hypotheses through falsification until we are left with only a single tentative explanation standing. That is then the hypothesis that is advanced as explaining whatever phenomenon was under observation or study. At any point, be it a day, a week, a month, a year, a decade, etc., new data or analysis can emerge that invalidates that hypothesis and stands another in its place. That is why we say science is iterative. Each time you go through this method of testing and falsifying possible explanations based on new data and analysis, it is another iteration with the most likely outcome being a new tentative explanation (hypothesis) is put forward as the current "best" understanding.
I know that no one gives a shit. And none of this will change anyone's mind but the lack of ability to discuss and understand this process drives me up a damn wall.
And I want to note that I am not coming after anyone. I only quoted Silver and Black's post so that my unhinged rant would have some context. To be clear, we all should be asking questions and trying to figure this stuff out. But we need to step back and think through how the processes we are questioning work also.
Didn't watch...or listen? Okay. What part is a cartoon?
"To be clear, we all should be asking questions and trying to figure this stuff out."
Too bad you didn't watch. He says exactly the same thing.
Because I looked him up. He's not a credible source of anything if for no other reason than he's selling you something. He's selling his YouTube brand so you buy his books and wealth system. Couple that with his anti-vax stance and he's not credible at all for me, so I'm out on anything he has to say. Even if I agree with it. Doesn't matter. Not a source of information to use as support for anything.
Look at the title of the video. It's got mask and hoax in it. He's using old search engine optimization tricks to try and vault to the first group of results no matter what you search. Why? It lets him sell his channel as getting so many unique visitors per time. This is attractive to advertisers and sponsors. Not to mention, maybe he captures a few of those visitors and sells them his new style Tony Robbins system.
My mother has cancer. So........................
All I'm saying is... just because you don't like the messenger... don't dismiss the message.

LOL... you have no idea. Look brother................ I have come to understand that you are are here for reactions. Unlike Mojouw, I don't have a lot of respect for you, because of the way you troll and bait. Mojouw is a very respected poster and contributor.... you.... not so much.
I don't get it.
Make it more extreme. You get Ebola. Are you asking the mailman if he has any treatment tips?
If the messenger is fundamentally unqualified to deliver the message...and there are dozens of just as easily accessible messages delivered by well qualified messengers...why would I stop and see what the unqualified messenger had to say?
Do you think every YouTube video has no basis at all? Are there any YouTube people that you like/follow? I follow several. I enjoy their take/opinion on different topics.
What sources do you use to discern what is true and what isn't? Who do you hold up as being............. not full of shit?
I'm asking seriously, not degrading you in any way. Maybe I can learn something.
The source has we see be actively selling me something. BBC was mentioned elsewhere and I like them.
I watch YouTube for entertainment and how to videos for home repairs. I don't use Twitter and YouTube for news or information coverage. Same with Facebook.
Best policy is to look up the entity that is providing you with this swanky free content. See what else they are into. What might their motivation be for pushing this content etc.
Long story short I don't put much stock in anything I see on YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook unless I can find at least 2 other independent sources that are saying the same thing and not just copying and pasting the one original clickbait.
For me, we all know Limbaugh and Maddow are biased for their side of the spectrum and it colors everything they say. The internet is that times a billion. Most of it is utter nonsense.
I've been in here as Hardwork, and tom444, since 2004. Who's the troll Arizona 2016?

It's your choices that leave something to be desired. To say the least.

What's that say about a Patriots' fan that wants to spend all that time on a Steelers' board? As best as I can tell you're only here to insult people. Hopefully the next time you're banned will be for good. As far as Steelers' forums I was one of the original members of Steelers Fever. I came over here when they closed.
To be fair dude only comes at people when they come at him. He's been called a variety of slurs and posts memes and laughing primates in response. Agree or disagree. No big deal but what's good for the goose has to be good for the gander.
Nah dude. It's just a straight-up teenage troll looking for reactions from people. You just give him more credit because he happens to believe in the same slate of liberal talking points, also like a teenager. Consider that. It's not exactly like having Aristotle on your side.

Obama Passes Cognitive Test by Reciting the First Fifty Digits of Pi
Andy BorowitzJuly 25, 2020
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Barack Obama recently passed a cognitive test that required him to recite the first fifty digits of pi, the former President has disclosed.
Obama took the test voluntarily, he said, in order to reassure his employers at Netflix that he was “of sound mind.”
“Netflix has made a big investment in me as a producer, and I thought it was important for them to know that I was all right upstairs,” Obama said.
The former President said that he enjoyed taking the test, including a section that required him to memorize and then recite a hundred verses of the Iliad.
“That was actually a lot of fun,” Obama said. “Greek is such a beautiful language.”
Although he passed the test, Obama said that there were moments when he felt “rusty” and “not as sharp as I was back in the day.”
“I definitely need to do some more mental exercises,” he said. “One hour of three-dimensional chess with Bill Gates every morning isn’t getting it done.”
I'm pretty sure we're allowed a little fun in life. Further, it's not my fault I grew up and still live where the greatest NFL franchise is from. ( yes I know, they cheated, blah blah blah) I don't post in the Steeler Talk section of the forum except on a rare occasion. Never have in all the years I've been here. Back in the day people in here weren't so uptight. Now, Jesus. So relax, you'll win another SB. The Steelers will be an outstanding franchise into the foreseeable future. I suspect the Patriots will be to.
