With his NFL bloodlines alone I don't think Connor Heyward lasts until the 7th round. Now, after a really good Senior Bowl week and a solid combine, I expect he could go 4th/5th round. Since he has no true position though, I think his higher value will be for the Steelers. If he does go late or undrafted, he will definitely be a steeler. No doubt in my mind.
lets the games begin ... trade trade trade .... so many picks took 2 shots to get it all ...5 picks in top 100

@Dwins
Connor Heyward AND Matt Araiza
Count. Me. In!!!
Does the length of Linderbaum's arms concern anyone?
im shy on undersized centers with the Green pick still so fresh in my mind
Kendrick Green is not small for an NFL Center. Problem is Green is an OG not a Center. That is my only problem with OC prospect Dylan Parham. Never played Center in college yet is considered as his best position. Lindstrom is also a smaller OL but is a seasoned OC, so not really a problem for me by itself. Zion Johnson is another OG that is being considered as a possible OC prospect. But if Zion washes out at Center he's still maybe the best OG in this class.
Moats disagrees ... 11:30 mark starts it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9Wl...el=ArthurMoats
OK. Kendrick Green is listed at 6'2"-315lbs. I'm not sure Moats' comparison but that is fairly average size for NFL Centers. His problem is not size. According to Baldinger, Green's issue is translating his strength to playing Center.....https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/20...baldinger-nfl/. Basically it comes down to OL coaching and technique. But...he's not undersized.
I'm seeing 6'4 315 on steelers page .... but his draft profile shows 6'2 -305 with 32 1/4 inch arms ( that's barely adequate ) damn sure he didn't grow 2 inches so one might question that extra weight as well ??

I find 6'2"-315lbs on every site I look at. I really don't want to argue that point. You see him as under-sized, fine. Who do you want to draft then?

Last year's draft I was wanting to draft Rashawn Slater and Creed Humphrey. Instead we drafted Kendrick Green and David Moore Jr. This year we need someone to play OC, RT, and RG. We went backwards, IMO.
The Combine and Senior Bowl are over, judging by rumors and visits it would appear to me that the Steelers are focusing on some kind of plan like this.....
One of the following OC's
OC - FA - Chi James Daniels
OC - FA - LAR Brian Allen
OC - FA - TB Ryan Jenson
OC - FA - NE Ted Karras
OC - FA - Bal Bradley Bozeman
and
CB - FA - Carlton Davis (Instead of Joe Haden Returning)
S - FA - Jordan Whitehead (Instead of re-signing T.Edmunds)
Restructuring Contracts of Cam and Schobert at a minimum to make more cap space and it sounds like Tuitt and Alualu will be back for another season.
Then drafting as such. (Again this is what I'm reading from the tea leaves laid out in front of us.)
RD1 QB - K.Pickett or S.Howell (I think Pickett falls to us after all of these trades and FA Signings at the position plus Seattle drafting Malik Willis @ Den's #9 pick)
RD2 WR - G.Pickens or S. Moore or C.Watson (Juju and James Washington are both gone, DJ can't catch well enough, and Chase is a childlike Diva.)
RD3 CB - Alontae Taylor or D. Kendrick
RD4 ILB - Troy Anderson
RD6 OT - Max Mitchell
RD7 IOL - Cade Mays
RD7 ST - Connor Heyward or WR - Danny Gray
2022 Offensive Line
LT - Dan Moore
LG - Kevin Dotson / Cade Mays (R)
OC - Free Agent / K.Green
RG - Kendrick Green / John Leglue
RT - Max Mitchell (R) / Joe Haeg
Q: What does everyone think of the Shaun King lead rumors of Pittsburgh being interested in DeSean Watson?
1- Trent McDuffie CB..........1- Roger McCreary CB
2- Daniel Faalele RT............2- George Picken WR
3- Troy Anderson ILB .........3- Quay Walker ILB
4- Velus Jones WR..............4- Max Mitchell RT
7a- Nick Ford IOL ..............7a- Nick Ford IOL
7b- Connor Heyward TE/RB.7b- Connor Heyward TE/RB
Two days of Free Agency down with several days still to come. So far the team has signed both a starting OC and OG, a CB, a QB and resigned a few players.... Rumor is Witherspoon will soon be resigned soon too.
Q: Does any of this change anyone's thoughts about taking a QB in RD1? In my opinion, since it appears that Strong is not an option, I think it should be K. Pickett or nothing at QB in this draft class. (Don't want to see a Dan Marino Part 2 situation again.)
IMO, we still need a OLB depth, ILB, S depth, a starting WR, & a starting RT
RD1 ILB Nakobe Dean
RD2 WR George Pickens or Skye Moore
RD3 OT Rasheed Walker or Abraham Lucas
RD4 S Nick Cross (Comp Pick)
RD6 RB Hassan Haskins (f/ KC)
RD7 OLB Jeremiah Moon (f/ NYJ)
RD7 STP Connor Heyward
53 man roster left something like this
OFFENSE (25)
QB - Mitch, Mason, Haskins
RB - Harris, (R) Haskins, Snell, D.Watt
WR - (R) G. Pickens, D.Johnson, C.Claypool, A. Miller, S. Sims - KR
TE - Freiermuth, Gentry, Rader
OT - Moore, (R) Walker, Haeg, Okorafor
OG - Dotson, Daniels, Green, Leglue
OC - Cole, Hassenhauser
DEFENSE (25)
DE - Ca.Heyward, Tuitt, Wormley, Loudermilk, C.Davis
DT - Alualu, Adams
OLB - T.Watt, Highsmith, Tuscska, (R) Moon, Charlton
ILB - Bush, (R) Dean, Spillane, B.Johnson
CB - Wallace, Witherspoon, Slot Corner Cam Sutton, Maulett, Pierre
S - Fitzpatrick, Norwood, (R) Cross, Killebrew
SPECIAL TEAMS (3)
P - Harvin III
K - Boswell
LS - Kuntz
RD7 Pick - (R) Co. Heyward, ILB M.Allen, CB J.Layne, S D. Stiner, and DT K.Davis are all relegated to the Practice Squad.
With the moves they’ve made, I say take big swing at QB with Willis or keep your powder dry until next year.
How is drafting a player that can't read defenses and is inaccurate taking a big swing? Because you have to trade up 12 spots to do it? Talking heads are all about this kid because of his potential, not his actual skills. Thats a HUGE RISK trading up for a player that can't play but might be able too in the future. IMO, thats not a big swing, that's a wasted swing. Thats closing your eyes and just swinging at air hoping you hit something. It makes no sense. Let someone else take that risk. please.
As you know, I like Jordan Davis and a NT is the lynch pin to a successful 3-4 defense but A: I don't see him making it past 17 at LAC and B: the middle of our defense has struggled year after year because no one is there to lead them. Bush has yet to be what he was drafted to be (Ryan's Replacement) and if Tuitt and Alualu are coming back we'll have another year to prepare for Alualu's eventual departure..... C: Adams appears to be a really good back up DT too. I think were alright there for now.
Why Skye Moore over Pickens? Just Curious.
Same Question for Walker / Lucas. I just know those are names on their visit lists and the best available at those potential positions.
Nick Cross? The Former roommates son, I didn't know that.
Depth at RB is imperative IMO. Snell, McFarlane, The NC ST TE, none of them have been able to do it.
Moon, nothing to know, just OLB depth late in the draft. I'd like to take one earlier but other positions have become more important unless other FA Signing follow.
Heyward, you say it's a must, but is this an emotional choice because he doesn't appear to bring anything to the table. A Late round WR like a Danny Gray might be a better selection IMO. I only choose this one because I knew you wanted him.
What about the question I asked at the top? Does the Mitch signing change anyone's thoughts on drafting a QB in RD1 this year? Because we could very easily take:
RD1 QB Kenny Pickett
RD2 WR Skye Moore or George Pickens
RD3 ILB Leo Chenal
RD4 RT Max Mitchell
RD6 S Tycen Anderson or Percy Butler
RD7 OLB Jermiah Moon or Tyree Johnson (Tx A&M)
RD7 RB Leddie Brown
or (Depending on your position preferences)
RD4 S Nick Cross
RD6 RB Hassan Haskins
RD7 OLB Moon / Johnson
RD7 OT Christian Jones - Texas
Then sign Connor Heyward undrafted.

Mark my words, Willis is a 6 out strike out, not a 6 run home run. Another EJ Manuel or JP Losman. Another forgotten first round QB. A Poor mans Mike Vick. Plus based of his potential Seattle will draft him in the top ten and then go on to regret it for the next five years.
At 20, IMO, you'd be lucky to see Pickett and probably more likely to get Sam Howell or Ridder..... Since everyone wants to dismiss Carson Strong. IMO, the best QB in this draft class.
I don't think signing Trubisky changes Colbert's mind. I think he was locked in on Sam Howell in 2020 and continued to be locked in in 2021. That is who I expect to be the pick at 20. I was saying from early on I think we enter TC with MR, Haskins, Vet FA, and Rookie Draft Pick. Just have to wait and see.
Just talking about the pick at 20:
At CB I really like Trent McDuffie and Roger McCreary. Both can play outside but would be much better in the slot, IMO.
At QB I'm thinking it's Howell or surprise me.
I would be very surprised if they go DL with Tuitt and Alualu both coming back. Loudermilk and Wormley already getting relief snaps.
I also think OT is still very much high on the priority list. I would love to put Penning at LT.
I understand team needs and fan wants, but I will always be a BPA in round 1 type of fan. I don't like to trade out of position unless it is for the absolute #1 guy on our draft board.
Round 1 picks need to play right away with the economics of the NFL.
Recent moves and draft picks take RB, TE, interior OL, RT, DL, all LB off the board.
Leaving WR, CB, and SS plus QB.
Say they sign Spoon, Edmunds, and Juju after those three shop the market and don’t find big $$$$ out there. No idea if that’s possible but let us assume it happens. That’s a recipe for packaging a couple of picks together and moving high enough to get the pick of the QB litter.
Will it happen? Likely not but more than any other QB needy team they seem to be getting the rest of their list checked off.
