It was a good trade imo.
I'm glad we have Justin Fields & Payton Wilson instead of Kenny Pickett & the 6th rounder we sent to Chicago.

The Steelers have no options this season or beyond this season. They currently say Russ is the man, but they also like Fields, who also isn't all that good. So you're left with two quarterbacks who aren't the long term solution. And we know the old adage about having two quarterbacks.
I'll take one mediocre/bad quarterback like Pickett over having two quarterbacks who are not the answer. At least the mediocre QB will be inevitably replaced, but what do you do with two?

You might be right…but you don’t know that yet…

The same thing if you have one...We need to let the season play out first but if the QB is mediocre, who is possible and the steelers are stuck in the middle again, they will need to have a true rebuilding.....

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
Just last season Russell Wilson started snd played 15 games. He threw for 26TDs and 8INTs, and right at 3100 yards with a qbr of 98. Imo, he may be good enough to run Art Smith's offense. His biggest knock in the Sean Payton offense was getting sacked 100 times. This run first/play action offense will cure that.
I'm not sure why he is being dismissed by so many before even seeing a game or two.

He had way too many checkdown and also too many sacks(not just last season but his entire career) and this is a concern....Maybe it was because he was not a good fit for the Sean Payton offense?...Possible but this is also possible he is a bit washed...The TD-INT ratio last year was the only good stat for Wilson. He is better that Pickett of course but this is a very low bar

He rushed for 341 yards. His TD% was almost 6. Kenny's was 2. His completion % was higher than 8 of his previous seasons. There's more. The TD/INT ratio wasn't his only good stat.

True and I was wrong...But I don't want a QB who takes way too many sacks and also have a low YPA(6.8 for Wilson last year despite his high % complete pass) with that like last year...It's a bad combination and both can't happen...I can live with a high number of sacks (I think it will happen too if his YPA is at 7.5-8.0 and he is good in 3rd down...that will be the key
Of course if we compare Wilson or Fields with Kenny,of course they will look good, but we need higher standard than that!

We do need to use a higher standard.
In my earlier post I was trying to say I think just by the nature of Smith's offense we will see the sack numbers go way down.
I also think play action to speed WRs snd YAC WRs is going to move safeties out of the box so he won't see that free rusher every play.
If I can find the video that breaks down Smith's passing philosophy I will post it. It always has a short, mid, and deep route that the QB can read all from one platform. Granted, I think this puts DBs into man with zone over top to prevent splash plays. But with Pickens, Jefferson, CA3, and Wilson, I love this concept.

It seems all the focus has been on QB. The O line and Harris is what needs to stand out to be successful. I have no doubt QB play will be better than last year but that alone isn’t enough. I think D will be better as well .

Yeah,if the o-line is poor,we have no chance!

Figure the o line will be bad for about a month. Basically 3/5 will be rookies or at a new spot. That's going to take time to come together.

Most NFL OL agree it takes about a month for an OL to learn each other. That is within actual gameplan practices and live games, not scrimmages and drills.

Possible that the steelers o-line are not very good because of that, but this is a big difference between this and be completely awful like the last preseason game.Jones was overmatched and if it continue today,he is likely to be unplayable at this point

So is Kenny Pickett now hosting a thread that we talk about anything? [emoji23]

Kenny Pickett is incredibly versatile.
There virtually isn't anything he can't do.

He does have that talent!
Kenny is having a monster day today!
5/7 for 43 yards!

Even more importantly, Kenny's unbeaten winning streak in the preseason is in serious jeopardy.
Do you think this will affect his chances to be inducted into the NFL Preseason Hall of Fame?

We always hear about Wilson’s 26 TD’s and 8 int’s but I’ve heard alot of that happened in garbage time. I guess only someone who followed the broncos last year would know what actually happened.

I am not sure this is the case.
It don't tell the whole story but only 8 of his 26 TD was when Denver was down by 9 points or more and only 2 of those was when the broncos were down by 17 points or more
Here the link for more details

Of course, I am not sure if Wilson will be good with us(this is a concern for me) and the stats don't always tell the story, but for the garbage time, I've seen much worse than that.

Mostly games Denver won were the ones he had multiple TD passes and the ones they lost, he had no more TD passes at end of games than any other QB. One here or there.

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
I was wondering how many TD's Kenny had in garbage time and then I decided we didn't have garbage time because every game goes to the wire with us.

And what did all that "stability" get them, exactly? By my reckoning, it cost the team one Super Bowl when a certain journeyman QB played exactly like a journeyman QB on the biggest stage and handed Jerry Jones a Lombardi Trophy on a silver platter while the other QB who actually didn't even rise to the level of journeyman cost the team 2 more trips to the Super Bowl by tossing 6 INTs in 2 AFCCGs.
Bottom line: this team spent 2+ decades flogging the dog at the QB position between Bradshaw and Roethlisberger.

Why? In either scenario, the Super Bowl is a pipe dream, especially when you play in the same conference as Mahomes, Allen and Burrow (when he can actually stay healthy).

Very simple. Since they're both costing the team next to nothing, if they both suck you cut bait on both of them and go back to the drawing board. Again, this team has had a lot of historical experience doing that with QBs.

In all honesty, that wasn't his fault. He threw the hot route and Thigpen (I think it was him) completely missed the fact the defense was blitzing and just ran his regular route—both times, if I remember correctly. I used to be really down on N-O as well, but then I heard someone explain what happened and it made a lot more sense.

It was Hastings that he had the miscommunication with. The other one I think he said sailed out of his hand.
