Can't wait to here how the POTUS is supposed to ensure factories stay open in foreign locations. Or how US Government policy has any impact on the amount of shipping containers in the system. Would be interested to know more about how the POTUS or Feds can have any impact on foreign producers labor shortages.

Should be a fascinating discussion.

OK. How can government "make" private business do that? Look at the Carrier situation. They were incentivized with cash. Then just moved the jobs anyways.

For instance, every microwave on the planet is the same insides made by one company in a small number of factories in China. What can the US government here do to prevent that?

Most of yours and my shoes and clothes are made in Vietnam and surrounding areas. They are having consistent and persistent assembly line shutdowns due to labor shortages and COVID outbreaks. What can the US government do about that? Are you going to quit your job and sew NIKEs for under $10 an hour?

Only a highly limited number of New Balance models are made in the US. Most are made in Asia. So...hope your doing your research?

One of the US's most powerful business groups has abandoned the shareholder-first idea that has driven capitalism for decades.


The Business Roundtable said the pursuit of shareholder interests is no longer the central purpose of corporate America.


Companies should focus on social responsibilities as well as profits, the organisation said.


Business Roundtable members include some of the biggest firms in the US.


A statement released on Monday, titled Business Roundtable Redefines the Purpose of a Corporation to Promote "An Economy That Serves All Americans", was signed by the heads of more than 180 US companies. These included the chief executives of Amazon, American Airlines, and America's biggest bank, JPMorgan Chase.


The statement marks the first time the nearly 50-year-old group has said shareholder value is not the first priority. Shareholder primacy was an ethos championed by Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman and has been the foundation of corporate purpose.



The new mission statement comes at a time when companies are increasingly taking stances on issues outside of the corporate sphere due to pressure from activists amplified by social media and demands from their own employees.

I buy New Balance because I like them. A quick Google search said they were made in the USA. so, no... I didn't know that only a few models were American made.

I don't have the answer to your question/s. NOTHING is fine right now.

The only answer I could give is...... an end to greed. We both know that aint happening any time soon.

This is not a democrat or republican problem. Both parties are bought off. that’s why nothing changes - except for the worse (unless your wealthy). Middle class and fair market protections such as anti trust laws are mostly removed. Less and less mom and pop stores and more and more Walmart’s and Home Depot’s. Capitalism is supposed to be free market - this is not free market, it’s a Big’s only market
