we are at that point again , Just put our Female Shep down 2 years ago with hip dysplasia and now our male is experiencing the same issues , he is on 300 Milligrams of Gabapentin 3x a day and its to the point of almost no difference when on the med or off the med , definitely in pain but its so hard to make the call to put him down because even though you can see the pain you can also still see some joy when you say his name or pet him he is excited for the attention always .....

then the selfishness we feel is another thing too , are we being selfish , yet on the other hand we call them family members , would I have my wife put down if he hips were going bad ... not hardly ....

That's an issue every year. They are notorious for shoving square players in round holes. THey do it on the O-Line, RB, WR, QB...how many times did they try to run James Conner outside? He's a N/S guy and the Cardinals figured that out...lol

The offense is still broken. Arthur Smith’s offense looks like Matt Canada’s offense, just with more tight ends.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually agree with Mark madden here. I've been trying to be optimistic about Arthur Smith, but so far I just don't see much difference between his offense and Canada's.

I'm actually glad we got rid of the RPO crap and all the end arounds.

They're up to 20.7.

Order of events are that Nate Herbig was the starting Center but had a season ending rotator cuff tear on the last day of TC. Through TC he is OC1.
Zach Frazier takes over the role through 5 and a half games and goes out with an ankle injury. His status this week is unknown as of Tuesday morning.
Enter Ryan McCollum to possibly be the 3rd Center for Justin Fields in the last 7 weeks.

I have to say the issue(s) with this offense are not the OC Art Smith. Add to the injuries at Center and we lost James Daniels for the season, and before that Isaac Seumalu for 5 weeks. I'm not sure there is a coach out there that can run a full offensive playbook with OL problems this team has had since TC closed.

I just hope this is it for OL injuries this season.

I don't like an Arthur Smith offense. I do not like it on a boat....I do not like it on a train...

That Dr. Seuss moment over, anyone with eyes should be able to see that a Smith offense is far different and more professional than anything Canada ever did. The fact that most of the pass plays are no longer just mirrored routes on either side of the field is a major improvement in and of itself. On most pass plays, even I can see how the routes are working together to stress the defense and create openings. For the running game....I think the concepts are more than sound. They are just miscast for this team right now. Ditch the wide zone nonsense and just start running at people and let these big old OL beat on someone.

While one may be able to argue that the end result is similar, it is completely silly to argue the offense looks the same.

And this is coming from someone who wasn't the biggest fan of the hire and expressed concerns about what the outcome would be.

It's growing on me. Each week I'm starting to see new wrinkles with the route concepts and the run-block schemes. I actually say a WR wide open against the Jets. That may have been the first time in 4 years!

Yeah, if you think about it, Smith had to come in and basically teach several members of the offense (including the WRs and RBs) how to play offense at an NFL level. I didn't think about this before but perhaps one of the other reasons for getting Wilson was because he was a veteran who could help implement an NFL offense. That, and the inclusion of other veteran receivers have allowed Smith to implement more wrinkles and get progressively more complex.

I don't know if any of this is true, but your post got me thinking about that. It does, at least, make sense... at least to me, (which isn't saying much).

I keep seeing this idea that somehow Fields has a better chance of getting us into the end zone now than he did when he was the starting QB. Field is very athletic. He would bring the possibility of a QB option to run or throw. I think... we have that option with Russ. I also think I would rather have a RB running the football in the red zone. I'm not saying maybe it changes our scoring chances, but by how much and up or down?

The short distance offense was better (or appeared better) with Fields at the helm.

Can anyone help me understand why you roster Conor Heyward as some kind of funky amalgamation of a FB/TE/HB and then proceed to just use him as a straight ahead blocker? I mean that isn't what he is good at. If you just wanted a blocking FB...go get one of those and ditch Heyward. If you are never going to use him to catch a pass or carry the ball to cross-up a defense...then he is pointless because he isn't a good lead blocker.

Same with Skrow-whatever WR basically motioning in to do TE things. Are you telling me that he is a better blocker and receiver than every other TE on the roster? Or, conversely, that PF can not work out in space as either a blocker or receiver? Why did the Steelers roster 27 TEs and pay one of them oodles of money if you can just get a #5 WR to do the same stuff?

The usage of funky personnel so that Smith can get a "jumbo" package on the field and go into a condensed formation makes my brain cramp up. I get that this is Smith's "thing" but why not put PF and an actual FB in those packages...? Or maybe PF was in there and I just missed it. I don't know. I saw a lot of #15 and #83 for reasons....?
