Yikes, Vincent! I think you were right.
BBC may have linked funds for the Mosque to Iran.

Ok, lets see if i can get through this where it makes sense. It has been said many times by those that don't want the mosque(whatever you want to call it) there, that it is their constitutional right, but they should be sensitive to those that think it is too close. It has also been said, that yes, moving it a few blocks would make a difference. That being said....
What i can't understand is the next few things.....
Muslim extremists have been using terrorist attacks against this country, its overseas facilites, its interests, and its allies since the Iran hostage crisis in the 70's. Throughout all of these attacks America did not declare war on these extremists until 2001, for obvious reasons. We are now in two wars due to these Muslim extremists (and no, i am not lumping the extremists in with all Muslims). Although, many on the left, and others, have been expecting a huge backlash (violence, vandalism, hate crimes) since 2001, in this country, this has not come about. In many ways we have bent over backwards to understand and separate the extremists from moderate/good Muslims.
We are all aware of the disparity in civil rights in Muslim countries, as compared to our own. We probably all know someone who has been hurt, or killed, in these 2 wars, as well as stories about some of the "acceptable" practices within these countries. We are war weary, and may have some anymosity towards Muslims, as is understandable, since we are at war with their extremist sects. It is the nature of conflict. Now, we have one issue, that requires mutual understanding and sensitivity. However, it is only coming from one side. The supposed idea was for this site to build bridges, but as we can see, it is not working, and has only increased agitation on both sides. Many now feel this is the wrong thing to do, most Americans, most New Yorkers, the majority of the 9/11 families, some dems, and some prominent Muslims themselves. And now everyone is suprised that now, Americans, have a negative or untrustworthy view of Muslims. Now, after all this time, the majority of this country is becoming increasingly angry. What does not help is those that say that those that are opposed to the mosque, are automatically bigoted, racist, ignorant, and stupid. I guess this includes all of the groups i mentioned above that are also against it. When someone gets called something long enough, with such vitriol, over and over again, dont be surprised if those that are being accused start to become what they are being accused of. Kinda like being consistently accused of having an affair, but arent, but over and over are accused. After awhile, you say fuck it, and say "since im being accused of it, and you will never believe me, i might as well have one." Additionally, another thing that frustrates me, is although some of the accepted views and practices of Muslims are not the most gay, women friendly, those on the left never take them to task. But they will call holy hell on any other religion that they feel does. Although the views of those religions are usually much more accepting.
I know this was long and rambling...but the point is i cannot understand how some could not understand the souring of some people to Islam, and those that are for the mosque, at this point. Althoug this was not the reasons against the mosque(whatever) in the beginning.
is their a two drink minimum?
I know, ive got my hand up......ask me!
You may address the class Mr. Burgle.
We as Americans are suppose to have more compasion and mercy on the rest of the world while our views are constantly beaten down and admonished for being too uppity. And when it is asked in return to have some compassion and sensitivity we are told "TOO BAD", "SUCK IT UP", or worse yet people cling to ,"What happen to freedom of religion!"
I understand that some Muslims aren't extremists. Regardless any idiot with the ability to recognize poison ivy could see that the suggestion of a mosque (or anything similar to it) at ground zero is itching too many people's arses.
But when those people with the itch rise up, no one wants to hear them. We're just insensitive Americans who don't care about the rest of the world. And my comeback to that is, IF we are such a terrible nation then what the hell are you doing here? You had a choice, you choose freedom, and now you want to stick a thorn in the side of the individuals who helped get you your freedom!
Sounds to me like we should be offering one way tickets home to a lot of other pissed off people!

most political debates, or debates of any kind, are no fun (or interesting), if the opposing side is not represented. at least represented well. otherwise it becomes the exact same thing as talking to yourself. which i do like, but not as rewarding. the vocal opposition has gone, or at least the opposition to most of the viewpoints on this board (at least those that post). and for clarification i (usually) fall into the majority. therefore, this forum has kinda' lost its "punch" if you will. thats my take. ill put my hand down now, and continue on finding more interesting ways to beat my cat.
"Our national security now hinges on how we negotiate this, how we speak about it."
Is that a threat? "Bridge to peace"? You will know a tree by its fruit.

Imam: Handling of Islamic center plan a matter of national security
By the CNN Wire Staff
September 9, 2010 5:10 a.m. EDT
(CNN) -- The religious leader behind plans to build an Islamic center and mosque a few blocks from New York's ground zero said Wednesday night that America's national security depends on how it handles the controversy.
"If we move from that location, the story will be the radicals have taken over the discourse," Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf told CNN's Soledad O'Brien on "Larry King Live."
"The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack."
But some critics decried his assessment.
"The whole national security thing: that's a veiled threat," Andy Sullivan, a union construction worker who wants all New York construction workers to boycott the proposed Islamic center, said on CNN's "AC 360" Wednesday night. "He's saying 'you make me move' and, guess what, the whole radical Muslim world is coming after us."
"This is a turf war," Sullivan said.
The imam, who repeatedly said his mission was to promote peace and build a bridge among faiths, said he was also speaking about "radicals" on both sides of the debate on the Islamic center. "Our national security now hinges on how we negotiate this, how we speak about it."
And eventually His act will remove it, but that's another thread!
This isn't about David's Temple. This is about the sensitivity of an issue that we as Americans are suppose to have for "others" in the world. But yet when something burns our arse not one other country comes back and says, "Oh the 'others' need to be sensitive about this!"
Why is that? Why is it that we are suppose to have sympathy for others but not receive any back in kind? Why is it that we are suppose to be the light of freedom for others while they get to run around breeding their hate towards us? It is about time that America was given back to the Americans. That we give ourselves a bit of grace and mercy! It is time that we build America on the foundation of America not some other country's believe on how we should be, not some minority immigrant worker who comes here for a better life and in turn bashes the very freedoms, rights, and responsibilities they should now carry the torch for because they could be living a more difficult life elsewhere!
The mosque need not be built that close. And if this man is about "Peace" as he stated, then he would understand that the best way to peace around this subject matter is to forget about building the mosque that close to ground zero and move it. PERIOD! That's PEACE, and that's what has been expected of Americans for years - just do it differently so as not to offend others. Well now it's someone else's turn to 'not offend', but "they" don't like it too much.
So it's blown up to this. And as the man stated if he's forced to move the mosque they'll be attacks. Really? I say move the mosque and if "others" decide to attack, then let's move a few more.
That idiot needs to go away at this point. Making that statement is complete bullshit and there is no way that thing should be built on that site now. Who the fuck does he think he is??? I guess that goes to show the liberal portrayal we have in the world: "Threaten them with violence and they will back down."
Fuck you Imam! :upyours:
There is a press release that just came out stating that Donald Trump wants to buy the property plus add on 25 % to the building owner. The only agreement he wants is that the mosque be built more than 4 blocks away . Trump for Mayor !!
No it's not Buddy, The preacher agreed to not burn the Quran if Imam moved the site. Imam agreed.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...090900743.htmlQuote:
Jones said Imam Muhammad Musri of the Islamic Society of Central Florida told him that officials would guarantee that the mosque would be moved.
Allah Akbar !!!!
[I]When a report challenging our national security policy of ignoring Islamic supremacism through Islamic law was released during a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday (disclosure: I was one of the co-authors of the report, titled: “Shariah: The Threat to America”), among the chief critics were representatives from the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association (CMSA).
This group, which has been briefing both Democrat and Republican congressional leadership in recent months, claiming that there is nothing inherently violent in Islamic law, has a very poor history of embracing Islamic radicals — even al-Qaeda terrorists.
Immediately after 9/11, the CMSA began holding Friday afternoon prayer services on Capitol Hill. Who did they choose to lead them in their prayers? Al-Qaeda sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki, who is currently subject to a kill or capture order issued by President Obama. In fact, video of al-Awlaki preaching to the CMSA was included in the 2002 documentary, Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet. (That video clip is available to view via the Investigative Project on Terrorism.)
Identified in that clip listening to the al-Qaeda cleric: Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR); then-CAIR communications specialist Randall “Ismail” Royer, who is currently serving a 20-year federal prison sentence on terrorism charges; and CMSA founder and former president Jameel Alim Johnson.
Jameel Johnson is no stranger to PJM readers. In December 2007, I reported exclusively here on an Islamic conference on Capitol Hill that had been scheduled by Johnson, as chief of staff from Congressman Gregory Meeks. The conference was cancelled at the last minute by the House of Representatives sergeant-at-arms when it was discovered that it was to feature a long list of Islamic radicals, some of whom were known to be on the terror watch list.
So when the CMSA leadership whine to the media about anyone offering an alternative view to our failed foreign and domestic policy of submitting to Islamic radicalism, we must look at the record of CMSA as an organization, and its leadership as individuals. They have given radicals and terrorists, such as al-Awlaki, a voice on Capitol Hill.
This infiltration of our highest government institutions is not limited to the CMSA.

Molly Norris is no more. The Seattle cartoonist who drew a cartoon in April urging an "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day" has gone into hiding out of fear for her life. Mark Fefer told readers of The Seattle Weekly that Norris has "gone ghost" and that her cartoons will no longer appear in the alternative newspaper.
The F.B.I. urged Norris to take extreme caution after a radical Muslim cleric in Yemen placed her on an execution list in July. Anwar al-Awlaki, who is linked to the failed Times Square bomb plot, called Norris a "prime target" whose "proper abode is hellfire."
Norris was laying low for awhile and continuing to draw cartoons, but at the urging of the F.B.I. Fefer says she has "moved, changed her name and essentially wiped out her identity."

I sure the radical Muslims just want to talk to Molly should they find her:sarcasm:
* " find" typed twice-why does that always happen to me *
I'm sure the same thing would have happened if she had encouraged her fellow cartoonists to draw Jesus or Moses.
:sarcasm:
Ya know that's the thing, it's not even that she was encouraging anyone to mock Mohammed, just simply drawing any sort of depiction of him is enough to draw death threats. ( along with genuine attempts to carry it out) Yeah I can understand if you make it a sin for members of your faith, ( though on penalty of death is too severe even for the faithfull) but you have no right to impose such an edict to the rest of the planet.
sorry, but it's a fucked up faith imo, not saying everyone that follows the religion is messed up, but the religion in and of itself is messed up. sorry, no better way of putting it.
You Mecca Me Hot is my favorite. :sofunny:
