Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
I can only speak for myself. I’ve definitely taken more than one “told ya” lap on Trubisky and KP.
I’m extremely pessimistic on BOTH Wilson and Fields. Although, I totally admit that Fields is the exact type of QB prospect I’d be raving about in a draft. I just think either he’s dumb or lazy. Only way I can explain how bad he is on the field.
Anyways, posting told you is more of me trying to give everyone crap but it doesn’t mean I was rooting for Trubisky or KP to fail.

Your posts are always fair and logical (to a fault). I never get the idea that you would rather the Steelers fail if it makes you right.

That makes sense and thanks.
I guess I have a hard time wrapping my head around people wanting the team or a specific player to fail....but just because I don't understand something doesn't make it not true! There are all kinds.

Different tutelage should definitely define if Fields is just one that doesn't get it or can get it. It's Trubisky ll with more talent. I know all Steelers fans hopes he gets it. We'll be singing praises or throwing him on the trash heap with Trubisky. Wilson should be a definite upgrade unless father time has him on a sharp decline now. JMHO.

I warned dudes that the grass isn't greener on the other side. Many times teams sign an "upgrade" only to find out he isn't all that and it puts them into another wasted season.
This.

Stop projecting. Just because YOU are happy because you think that a Steeler QB you didn't like failed doesn't mean the rest of us will be.

I agree. And they've been "celebrating their knowledge" here just about every day since Kenny was traded.

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
It's interesting how the Kenny-bashers and Wilson supporters here have been spending so much time thinking about how they're going to respond to the Kenny supporters if the Kenny supporters turn out to be right. Their guy Wilson hasn't even failed yet, but they've already got a strategy about how they're going to react on the board if he does. :boink:

Am I wrong? It’s obvious you want Wilson to fail and KP succeed. You didn’t make the trade or sign Wilson or give Tomlin extension. Not sure why you took upgrades so personally. Our offense sucked last year and the team went other direction. Life continued when AB , James Harrison, ju ju and Leveon left and they were actually productive. We got more out of Artie Burns than KP. Im sorry for your loss. Hopefully you’ll be done mourning soon and move on.

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
I have the feeling that the KP debate will last as long as the Marino one has.
Just my thoughts/opinions…The 49ers currently have an offensive system which can be ran successfully with a ‘lesser than’ QB. By that I mean a QB that is content to play within the confines of the system. Even if there is a better play, he stays within the system/play called. This is and has been a limited time type of offense. Defenses will catch up.
It is similar to how Canada ran the offense(only much better). Smith will run a ‘tight’ offensive system also. The QB running it will be key. Maybe Justin Fields can succeed.
Ben could not and would not succeed since he likes to expand the system being called. He would play outside the plays called and create. This would not work with the current 49ers. I think it can succeed with Russ. Unknown with Fields.
We should plan on another 1st round QB in the 2025 draft.

how is it going to work with Wilson? Seems in denver he couldnt or wouldnt work within the confines of a system. Why would it be different here if we put him in a strict Arthur Smith system? Wilson at least needs to be able audible, actually i think smith ought to put together a set number of plays and let wilson call them

That seems to be the question. Just how strict is Smith's offense going to be with Wilson, and/or is Wilson willing to work within that framework. I don't think Smith's offense will be as strictly controlled as Payton's is in Denver. That is just me projecting, but I don't think it will be. Smith runs a lot of different plays from the same formations and personnel. This should allow for a veteran QB room to play within the system. In TN Smith had a veteran QB and success. In Atlanta he had a rookie and not much success. Wilson is a veteran so I'm optimistic.

Only if he lights it up his entire career on another team. Oh, wait, then it'd be more of a Johnny Unitas discussion.

ill add that Wilson hasn't played behind a good o line in like forever. And now we should have a good defense to give them the ball back. I think hes got much more support here than in denver or the last couple years in seattle. Im optimistic for this season, after that, probably have to go back to the well to find a new Qb

if he sits on the bench the whole season and does nothing it'll all be forgotten. I still think it was a hasty move letting him go but oh well - time to move on. Maybe part of it was him losing the confidence of his teammates, they definitely seemed to prefer MR

This is the basis of projection. Because YOU want players you don't like to fail, you just assume that everybody else feels the same way that you do. There are several people like this on this board.

Wrong again! KP is no longer a Steeler. I rooted for him harder than anyone last year. Even thought he could progress and become solid QB possibly. He’s gone so I don’t have to keep praying and rooting for a guy who threw a TD every other game. The only time I’ll root against him is it’s against Steelers or affects them, could care less in other games. Although if he ever starts I’ll bet the under every time since he can’t put points up.

Same would go for TJ. He's a fan favorite and deserves that. If he asked to be traded and went to the Eagles, the rooting for him would stop. Steelers first fandom does not mean we dislike/hate players when they leave, we just don't really care if they succeed or not.
-
Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
We hate them when they go to a division rival, or to a team we traditionally despise, like the cowboys or pats, and we hates them when they play the steelers lol

This. Great point.

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
We drafted Payton Wilson at pick #98, which we got from the Eagles in return for Kenny Pickett.
It will be interesting to track both players to see who got the better of the deal.

It's not whether you root for him or not. I'm not asking anyone to continue to root for Kenny. But Kenny-bashers show their true hate for him by continuing to sarcastically attack him and his abilities after he's gone just as you are doing in this very post. If you really were as disinterested in him as you say you are because he's no longer a Steeler , then you wouldn't feel the need to cut him up every time you post about him like you're doing now.

Exactly. Ju Ju was my favorite player while here. I might have looked at the box score the first couple of games in KC (never NE) but I forgot about him quickly.
