Here’s how bad Doug Gotlieb’s take was. After tweeting that Luck was “so millennial” for retiring, Britt McHenry (also on Fox) essentially said that she’s ashamed to be associated with Gotlieb. BOO-YAAA!!!

All the "takes" by fans and commentators that Luck is a "millennial" or "soft" or a "pussy" for retiring are just disgusting. Few "regular" folks out there risk their lives and long-term physical and mental health for their jobs. And before everyone freaks out, I realize cops/firemen/military and others do, but that is a small % of the eager internet tough guys that are dragging Luck right now.
The timing of it is the shocking part. We are just now hearing about it but I would bet he's been in conversation with the Colts about the possibility. Maybe not, but if this was known for a while should the fans feel a bit duped on season tickets?
Early reports are that he told the team weeks ago. Colts were probably hoping that “football players play football” kicked in and he changed his mind.
Nice to see the Colts not try to squeeze Luck to repay the $$$ - Colts are not strapped for cash and it avoids burning any bridges in the event Luck reconsiders at some point while telling current players as well as potential future Colts free agent signings the franchise will not try to stick it to players whenever given the opportunity
At least he's walking away while he can still "walk away", I guess. I think the fans booing and the general anger(toward Luck) is more about the timing than understanding the why. Was this announced to the crowd during the preseason game vs the Bears - 3rd game/dress rehearsal game? This is not just a player retiring, this is the face of the franchise QB retiring. I think I would be more than a little angry at the timing also.
Whenever Irsay came out and said Luck will be ready week one when asked about the current injury, that’s EXACTLY when Luck told him he was retired. The Colts are known for handing out off the wall totally false info on injuries and players. You need go no further than Luck last season.
Luck got tired of the BS, not to mention the Colts tanked in order to draft him #1 way back when. I believe he is doing the right thing.
Booing the man for deciding to walk away. Classy...
Sucks, he was a good player but I'm glad he retired with his health intact. He's taken some nasty injuries over the years which most likely contributed a lot to his decision
If the game is taking more from you than it's giving back, and you don't see yourself being able to turn that around, why continue to play?
Colts fans seeking season ticket refunds

Booing Andrew Luck off the field wasn’t the only way for Colts fans to express their displeasure.
Season ticket holders are also asking the Colts to refund their purchases, now that they know they won’t see Luck, the franchise quarterback who shockingly announced his retirement on Saturday.

Indy fans are not a very classy or happy bunch, eh?
Ryan Grigson should have been ridden out of that town on a rail. He destroyed Luck's career and set that entire franchise back 5 years.
Irsay is also not a very good owner.
If the Colts organization knew that Luck was going to retire and they asked him to delay it (so season ticket payments come in) that’s some shady shit there...
Too soon? :chuckle:
I have no idea who is Doud Gottlieb....
That's awesome!
If I was 29 and had grossed just under $100 million dollars, had a degree from a top university, a family, and was facing another calendar year of my body getting ground down -- I would find it pretty darn hard to drag my butt to work and rehab daily.
So far fans and pundits have somewhat ripped Luck for this, but I haven't heard former or current players say anything besides that they totally get it.

It appears as though Gotlieb thought that taking the “lower ground” would get his name in the press. (“There’s no such thing as bad press.”) I don’t think Gotlieb thought there’d be such a backlash.
He’s absolutely getting destroyed by people... except for, you know, the guy on Twitter who once broke his hand and still had to work a six-hour shift at The Home Depot.
