Selfishly, I think he could have played another season or two if he'd drop about 25 lbs. But my non selfish self is glad that he one, retiring a Steeler and two, retired before concussions made him go nuts like several former NFL players. Troy had them in college and I can't even count how many he had with us. His shoulder tackling style left him susceptible to more of them too.
Good luck to a Godly man off the field, but a demon on it! You will be missed Troy.
I think Troy's tackling style can best be described as hurling his body full speed at the ballcarrier with total disregard for his own physical well being.
Lots of Troy talk and memories on Sirius NFL radio today.
It's too bad it had to end like this.
Hopefully it does end like this, and not in Cardinals red.
