Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
We hate them when they go to a division rival, or to a team we traditionally despise, like the cowboys or pats, and we hates them when they play the steelers lol

This. Great point.

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
We drafted Payton Wilson at pick #98, which we got from the Eagles in return for Kenny Pickett.
It will be interesting to track both players to see who got the better of the deal.

It's not whether you root for him or not. I'm not asking anyone to continue to root for Kenny. But Kenny-bashers show their true hate for him by continuing to sarcastically attack him and his abilities after he's gone just as you are doing in this very post. If you really were as disinterested in him as you say you are because he's no longer a Steeler , then you wouldn't feel the need to cut him up every time you post about him like you're doing now.

Exactly. Ju Ju was my favorite player while here. I might have looked at the box score the first couple of games in KC (never NE) but I forgot about him quickly.

The problem is that when you try to quote somebody, for some reason you don't put an "end of quote" notation at the end of the passage you are quoting. This screws up the rest of the post in regards to who said what, and also the replies that anyone may make to that post. I fixed the problem in the replies I made to you, including this one.

early returns indicate one player is ascending and the other is descending .......Wilson will very likely get a decent amount of snaps without injury providing them where as its gonna take injury or blowout games for Pickett to sniff the field

Makes sense. I was trying to quote a portion opposed to whole paragraph. One of these days I’ll learn to quote correctly and post pictures. But probably not.

not sure if you've heard or not, but Pickett looked really good in Eagles camp. :stirthepot: :wink02:

Based on what Hurts did the second half of last season (and he was probably injured), he wasn’t that good…not here’s a starting QB gig in the NFL good…lol

More importantly what are we going to say if Wilson and Fields turn out to be duds?

The few will be "I told you so's" and the others will look at it as a failed move and back to the drawing board. Nothing here has been wasted except the most precious thing...time.

Indeed. And how many "can't miss" QB prospects were there in the most recent draft that the Steelers had a shot at without having to take a huge gamble by forfeiting years of high draft picks to move up? Even the QB class of '83 had its duds - most notably Blackledge and Eason.

Eason wasn't a dud.

any Qb that gets you to the super bowl isn't a bust. He legitimately led that flawed team to the super bowl in 85

11 TDs and 17 INTs in that Super Bowl year.
He just handed the ball to Craig James and they lucked their way to the Super Bowl.
Probably the worst team to win a conference championship.

5 TD to 0 int’s in the postseason. It was a good playoff run and Eason played well until they got stopped by the Bears who were the undisputed dominant team in the league that year. He followed it up with a decent year in 86. I just wouldn't call him a bust. No more a bust than O’Donnell.

Way to distort whats being said. You always color things in absolutes. The guy got his team to the super bowl. Thats better than what we’ve done in recent memory.
-
Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
Only Rex Grossman in 2006 and maybe Woodley in 1982 with Miami was worse that Eason among the QBs who make a super bowl start.Steve Grogan was the best QB of the patriots in 1985.Eason was winning playoff game in 1985 like Mark Sanchez in 2009
-
Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
Sorry. You can’t argue that we should all get on board your evaluation of KP when on the other hand you’re making the case that Eason was good.

i said i didn’t think he was a bust. Which i think is reasonable. Guy got to the superbowl - he had to be good for a while to get there. Even if his overall career was not great. And all i said about KP is i think we cut him loose too soon. And that might end up being the case. You cant argue that he definitely sucks and will be a perennial backup. Not with the fact that he was saddled with the worst OC we’ve had since many on this board were even born. Be honest, you just dont know. I dont think the steelers know for sure but they didnt want to deal with his attitude, which i get.
But whatever works for you to make your case right? Even if it means distorting what others say.

It might be the 5-1 record that Grogan turned after the Pat's benched Eason. Only turning back to Eason after Grogran broke his leg.
But youŕ right Eason did start a SB.

Re: Kenny Pickett traded to Eagles.
Eason is pretty much the definition of bust.
Dan Marino had a tremendous NFL career with the Miami Dolphins and is now a Hall of Famer. He was also taken after Tony Eason in the 1983 NFL Draft.
Eason, the No. 15 overall pick, would go on to rack up just over 11,000 passing yards in his career, compared to over 61,000 yards by Marino, who was taken 12 picks later.
That may not even be the worst part. Eason actually played in Super Bowl XX and put forth an embarrassing effort in a 46-10 loss to the Chicago Bears.
To this day he is the only Super Bowl starting quarterback to not complete a single pass. He missed on all six of his pass attempts before being replaced by Steve Grogan.
Eason only played in nine games in his final three seasons with the Pats and will always be remembered for his painful performance in Super Bowl XX.
