WJ3 is a worse tackler than Burns...
I hope we catch a lucky break and Billings falls to our 2nd pick.
Hopefully we are thinking...
2nd: Billings (but most likely gone, so Javon Hargrave)
3rd: S Justin Simmons
and this is probably an unpopular opinion but I like him so much.....4th: CB Kalan Reed
Also folks, even though I personally dont like the pick, if the chiefs really did want him, that makes me feel a lot better about it. I would say the chiefs are kind of a CB factory
I expect the 2nd round pick to be a safety.
One thing for sure, when Rooney speaks(said he wanted secondary to be better), the team listens.
reading this thread almost make it sound like like we drafted Artie Lange

Burns will turn 21 on May 1st. WJ3 will turn 24 in October #Steelers
Did not know WJ3 was that old, and was still considered as a "raw" prospect himself.

For those of you saying the #Steelers should've traded down, it takes two to tango and reasonable offer. This ain't Madden.
As far as safety goes, Cravens would be a hell of a pick if he's still around somehow, but we also literally do not even have enough defensive linemen for a starter and a backup at all the positions unless we're willing to SUCK ASS. Tuitt puts one foot wrong all year and the season is over in the first round of the playoffs. Something tells me we had planned on adding at least one respectable player in this draft. If we fail to do that in what is the most stacked DL class in years, I don't even know what to say.

Ravens tried for No. 4 pick; Jalen Ramsey the target?

After the top two picks in Thursday night's draft, the Ravens knew the Chargers would select Joey Bosa and the Cowboys were listening to offers for the No. 4 overall pick.
"San Diego is taking Bosa," assistant general manager Eric DeCosta announced in Baltimore's war room. "Bosa was on the phone for two hours on Tuesday night with (Chargers Owner) Dean Spanos."
At that point, per vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome called the Cowboys with a proposal for the fourth pick.
When Dallas countered, Newsome replied, "No, we won't go there."
Who was Newsome's target? According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, it was Florida State cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who went one pick later to the Jaguars.
Under Newsome, the Ravens' draft philosophy has been to target the best available player. Ramsey was obviously high on their board.
Unable to land Ramsey, Newsome ended up staying put and selecting Notre Dame left tackle Ronnie Stanley.
"We value our board," Newsome told reporters later in the evening, "and he was the highest player on our board when we picked."
Higher even than Laremy Tunsil, who slid after an unauthorized video -- showing the Ole Miss tackle wearing a gas mask and smoking through a bong -- was posted to his Twitter account.
Newsome promptly brought the video to the attention of owner Steve Bisciotti, as the two men worked under a large draft-room sign that reads, "The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior."
Asked if the video was a factor in Baltimore's decision, Newsome responded, "That's always a part anytime you get information. Our scouts get a lot of information. When things happen, a lot of times we're not surprised."
Ultimately, the Ravens stayed true to a board that had Stanley ranked among the top four players, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley.
"I want to place my red star on one of the top players on our board," pro personnel director Vincent Newsome told Byrne after the draft. "I look for the cleanest player among the best of the best. Ronnie is that. He has all the skills and physical attributes to be an outstanding NFL player. He kept improving at Notre Dame. He's a good person, and there are no blemishes in his history. He's what we want a Raven to be. That's why he earned my star."

I feel better about Burns today. I don't think he helps us much this year though, so I imagine they're counting heavily on Golson to be good and maybe snag a vet off after the post-draft dump.
Burns is very much in the Shazier mold of who the Steelers new type is. I don't think he'll be near as good as Shazier, but here's hoping they can develop him. I still have serious concerns about drafting 100% clay at 25 combined with our apparent inability to evaluate or develop corners, but with so many teams interested in him, maybe the Steelers aren't crazy.
WTF!!!! We are literally 1 round into the draft and people are freaking out. This thing used to be like 500 rounds and everybody got a team. They whittle it down to 7 rounds and now fans feel like if that 1st rounder isn't the next HoFer, we are done. Blow it up and become the Browns.
Cowboys trying to acquire No. 32 from the Browns

Cleveland's Sashi Brown isn't done surging up, down, left and right across the landscape of this year's seven-round NFL draft.
Armed with the top pick in Round 2, the Browns' vice president of football operations is listening to offers for yet another trade.
The latest interested party? The Cowboys, per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, who reported Friday that Dallas is likely targeting a pass rusher if they move up to No. 32.
That makes plenty of sense after the 'Boys, from a distance, initially appeared downtrodden in their draft war room when Ohio State's Joey Bosa went to the Chargers at No. 3 overall. Dallas quickly rebounded -- with smiles -- to take another Buckeye in running back Ezekiel Elliott, but pass rusher remains a burning need.
With Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence both facing suspensions, look for Big D to address the spot early in the second round. Names like Eastern Kentucky's Noah Spence or Clemson's Kevin Dodd make sense for Super Bowl-starved owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
As for the Browns, Cleveland's trade-down machine has thrust this unique front office in an enviable position for the rest of this draft -- and the next two offseasons.
Along with another 11 draft picks this year -- and wideout Corey Coleman -- the team has accrued a first-rounder, a third-rounder and two fourths in 2017, along with an extra second-rounder in 2018.
The bounty of picks gives the Browns incredible long-term flexibility and increased chances of hitting on players. Cleveland is building for tomorrow, while the Cowboys -- with a 36-year-old Tony Romo at the helm -- hope to load up for a Super Bowl run today.
If this trade goes down, it will serve as a real-time study between two teams operating in very different ways.

Dallas goes Jaylon...wow!
WOW Jaylon Smith before Myles Jack??? What is life
Dallas screwed up. Smith was not even a top-4 round pick. The guy is just damaged goods. I doubt any team would have taken him today. A 3rd day guy at best.
could be a great long-term investment, I'm very happy for Jaylon Smith though. he's a great person and player...
Good luck with that Dallas. Jacksonville moving up to take Jack.
