Good defenses can slow down good offenses.
Excellent defense with no injuries.
And you have MAYBE one of those a season now.
I grew up watching and reveling in the defensive performances you’re seeming to think of. But they are largely gone from the NFL right now.
Maybe if defenses continue to “catch up” to the trends on offense they can continue to close the gap and get back to consistent performance.
But right now, I will settle for turnovers, sacks, and holding a good offense under 30.

You can't be great on both sides of the ball. If you are, it'll be gone by the next year by FA and the current year by injuries. Teams stick with offense between the two. That's what the Steelers need to do going forward.

With most recent teams I'd say that is correct, but Id's say the Chiefs are an exception to that rule. Mahomes is who he is, of course. But they would not have made into the playoffs last year without that rebuilt defense. Then, of course, Mahomes got them over the finish line.

Chiefs have not scored over 30 the whole year. Crazy stat
Of course they will likely score 30+ on Wednesday. F*ers

Saw some interesting clips and graphics earlier today and now I can’t remember where but…Ravens seemed to have finally wised up.
Steelers have been far better at defending under center runs than shotgun runs. They also use their outside defender to charge the mesh point.
Looks like the Ravens got in shotgun (the Steelers less good run defense alignment) and then pulled the OT to lead Henry through the hole knowing the edge defender would charge the mesh point rather than pursuing down the LOS.
Fascinating in division details from two teams who know everything about each other.
