Kovacevic: Timmons still hasn't topped out
Watch Lawrence Timmons slide left and right as signals are called, then slip back as if he might drop into coverage, then erupt forward with a flying tackle of Rashard Mendenhall, and this 6-foot-1, 234-pound heat-seeking missile makes it easy to forget: This is an inside linebacker.
And that had me thinking, from my perch atop one of the rolling green hills of St. Vincent College on Tuesday, that No. 94 simply must be the Steelers' breakout player for the coming season, the one who bursts into prominence.
Just one problem with that: Timmons already broke out in 2010, even if few seemed to notice.
"I don't know about the rest of the NFL, but Lawrence has been on our radar," linebackers coach Keith Butler told me before practice. "And we not only think he was exceptional last year; we think he's going to be even better, one of the best in the league."...........

He is playing for a big fat contract too.
We are going to see one helluva season from Timmons.
And I am guessing he is wanting to see one helluva contract.
Rosenhaus is going to bank on that

Re: Kovacevic: Timmons still hasn't topped out
I have a feeling he's going to be scary good this season.

What do you guys think if we kept him over Woodley? Like if it came down to keeping one or the other.
While I love LaMarr and he's such a great guy, the more I dig into Timmons numbers, the more it shows how good this guy really is.

If it came to that, I say you'd have to keep Timmons. Woodley is good, no doubt about it, but Timmons is a rarer talent. He can do it all. Woodley is a pass-rush specialist, which are easier to find that a player like Timmons.
I'm really looking for Timmons to have a huge season, and I completely expect him to go to the Pro bowl. Can't wait to see what he can do!
Re: Kovacevic: Timmons still hasn't topped out
We could have the best corps of Steeler linebackers since Russell, Ham and Lambert.
Re: Kovacevic: Timmons still hasn't topped out
This year, Timmons should be Pro Bowl bound, now that he is starting to get noticed.
Re: Kovacevic: Timmons still hasn't topped out
