Madden: Steelers can't be Raven about win

Nice game, Steelers. Gutsy.

But you’ll have to play much better than that to beat the New York Jets.

There’s no dismissing the Steelers’ resilience. No doubting — ever again — the clutch nature of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who pulled a nail out of the Steelers’ coffin on third-and-19 and hammered it into the Ravens’.

Any other town, they’d already be building a statue of Roethlisberger. That’s OK. I’ll do it myself.

But special teams were a disaster. Consider Baltimore’s fourth-quarter punt-return touchdown that got penalized back to the Steelers’ 29 but still set up the Ravens’ game-tying field goal. The Steelers committed three penalties on special teams. Shaun Suisham missed a 43-yard field goal.

One-for-two in a playoff game: Sounds about right for Suisham.

He makes valid points about ST's but I can't take this guy too seriously. He was a loudmouth announcer for WCW.

I thought this was going be about John Madden. Mark Madden is such an idiot he is irrelevant.

Madden is right in that we can't afford the same miscues against the Jets. I'd like to think those miscues were the result of rust from the bye week and they won't be repeated. And as far as STs go, he's also right. The Jets had a kickoff return for a TD to start the game the last time we played them.

No we can't have the same miscues against the opportunistic Jets. You can't have miscues like that in any game. Two turnovers leading to Raven Touchdowns. Baltimore had only 126 yards of total offense, that would constitute a blowout right? Well it wasn't because of our turnovers.

Madden is giving crazy love to Ben right now on his show. "Ben is Mario", "Ben IS Mario Lemeiux". Sorry if I butchered Mario's last name.

Madden is right. It's really tough to win games when you're putting yourself in a hole and constantly hurt yourselves. Through the first 3 quarters, I've counted four penalties on special teams.
