Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Posted by Mike Florio on October 26, 2010 5:31 PM ET
Earlier today, Rosenthal raised the question of whether Eli Manning of the Giants is an elite quarterback.
(I don't know how he resolved that question. I only read MDS' stuff.)
But Eli must be taken seriously as an MVP candidate. For more on the other candidates for postseason awards through seven weeks of the NFL season, click the rectangular thingee below.

Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Hasn't it become pretty much Peyton Manning's award to lose?
Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Florio doing comedy now? If Ben throws 3 picks he's a marginal qb, Eli does and he's MVP worthy.
Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Didn't they have 5 TOs last night and still win? How come nobody is talking about a hard hit on Romo? What better competition to have 2 Manning brothers try for the MVP, makes me want to puke.

Another pulitzer prize winner by Mike Florio. :der:
Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Hakeem Nicks has a better shot at it than Eli... Peyton will win it im sure
Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Eli WOULD have a shot at it if he'd stop with the damn throws off his back foot. They need to hook electrodes up to the boy and every time he's in a falling away position while also having his right arm cocked, he should get a jolt. :chuckle:

He is a good QB but doubtedly MVP material.
Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
Random question, has a wide receiver ever won the MVP?

Looks like Jerry Rice shared it with John Elway in 1987. Other than that, it appears the answer is surprisingly no.

Re: Eli Manning emerges as MVP candidate
MVP candidate? Florio must've gotten into the good stuff. Yea, 14 TDs 11 INTs and a QB rating of 88.3 is MVP worthy.

Too many multi-interception games to be considered elite or a league MVP.
