Thompson is a perfect example of why I HATE the Tomlin-Colbert era tendency to fill the bottom of the roster and even the PS with "trusted veterans". You know their ceiling. And their floor. It is the high floor that makes you comfortable. And I guess for most of the Ben R run, it was better to have a guy come in due to injury and have the floor of "not screw it all up".
But....there are so many players that cycle through the league and don't get a real game shot....and I say that has to miss more than a few players.
I would far rather see the Steelers consistently turn to and roll the dice with guys like Thompson, Walker, and Carpenter than Jack and Martinez. Honestly....depending on how the rest of the season goes....this may be a scenario where we see that Neal was a higher floor but far lower ceiling type of addition as well.
