Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Wow…there’s a BIG change!!!!

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Another new toy for Canada to show off!!!

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Another receiver in the offense to do absolutely nothing with.
-
Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Canada can't even find a way to get the ball to Pickens, DJ, and Muth. It's a good thing we have a great backup WR that has been here forever like Boykin......who doesn't seem to be able to play WR.

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
previously coached by Frisman Jackson in college.

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Can he pass the ball accurately more than 5 yards past the LOS?

No one can…it’s not allowed.

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
if it pushes Gunner off the roster its a baby step in the right direction but its not going to move the needle of this teams barometer

They've already been swimming upstream without DJ and a banged up Freiermuth all season. Having backups like Boykin that only plays special teams and isn't very good at WR things hurts them.
I am all for Gunner not being on the roster. He really hasn't done anything here.

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Yeah…time to reevaluate the “they contribute to special teams” thing.
-
Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
this is the "standard" signing

In fact he had that fumble last year that cost us the Patriots game.

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Steelers waived Denzel Mims today, leaving us with only 47 WRs on our roster.
-
Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Mims went from potential 1st round WR (who fell into rd 2), to bottom feeder pretty quickly ...makes you wonder if they guy just isnt smart enough to play in the NFL because he clearly had tools or did he Claypool himself and just not work

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
Next up, United Football League

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
I’ve never understood why some guys can learn to run routes and some guys can’t.
It’s the difference between having to work a real job and 10’s of millions of dollars.
I think if I was over 6 feet tall and ran a sub 4.4; I’d learn the footwork and timing to run NFL caliber routes, even if I had to work 12 hours a day.

Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
I read when we signed him, he had very real issues getting released off the LOS. He was easily jammed or pushed off his route.
-
Re: Steelers Reportedly Sign WR Denzel Mims
He was a Frisman Jackson guy. Jackson was replaced as WR coach.
Also he didn't play Special teams.

if you were young, super talented, and suddenly had loads of cash for the first time in your life, and the status of being a pro football player, not to mention the attention of many beautiful young ladies, you might just put in the minimum work required and look forward to all those parties

I get what you’re saying. I do. But I’m greedy and would want the gravy train to last as long as possible.

Some of it is just learning ability. Some people can read a chart and translate it to real life. Others struggle to memorize everything and translate it. I'm actually of the latter. For anything that is tactile or physical, I have to go out and do it a few hundred times so it becomes muscle memory (I hate ADHD sometimes—although it's different for everyone).
That said, if I could run a sub-4.4 as you said, I'd put the effort or work in to learn it even with the difficulties.

Yeah. I get everyone learns differently and if I wasn’t learning is my team’s protocol I’d be working on my own.
I think some of these dudes just don’t get that for whatever the reason.

Because a lot of them didn’t have to work for it at elementary, high school and college levels. They were just talented. In the NFL, you have to work.
