Week 18: For Whom to Root
For whom to root, in order to help the Steelers make the playoffs:
Steelers over Browns … duh
Jets over Dolphins … In Saleh We Trust
Bills over Taperiots … Bills will be vying for the #1 seed
And, in order for the R2 pick that we acquire from the Bears:
Vikings over Bears … Bears losing directly helps our pick
Texans over Colts … the Bears gain top pick in R2
And, to a lesser degree: Broncos over Chargers and Cards over Niners (but, if the Bears lose, those games don’t matter).

As usual, this is my appeal to the mods to change the thread title to "Who to root for, asshole."

Crazy thing they were at 0.2% chance when they were 5-8 few week ago!

Re: Week 18: For Whom to Root
It is odd that the Chiefs are playing on Saturday… extremely odd.
If the Bills lose tonight, and the Chiefs win on Saturday, the Bills cannot get the #1 seed… and thus, do not really have a need to play their starters in Week 18.
If the Bills win tonight, and the Chiefs lose on Saturday, the Bills will have already wrapped up the #1 seed… and thus, do not really need to play their starters in Week 18.
ANALYSIS:
By Saturday night, the Bills will know whether they have anything for which to play… which is odd. Why aren’t the Chiefs playing at the same time as the Bills!?! It is extreeemely odd. (Ahem, Goodelll helping out Kraft, ahem.)
SUMMATION:
The only way that the Bills “have” to play their starters is if…
-Bills win tonight
-Chiefs win on Saturday
or
-Bills lose tonight
-Chiefs lose on Saturday

If the Bills lose tonight, they will be in the 3rd seed behind the bengals and they would still have a chance to be in the second seed in week 18.But of course the best case scenario is the Bills win tonight in CIN,same for the chiefs vs Raiders. But the Bills hate the pats so much, maybe they will play to win no matter what.We will see

If the Bills lose tonight, the would have a chance at the second seed… only if the Bengals lose in Week 18. And, honestly, the difference between the #2 seed and the #3 seed isn’t nearly are important as getting the bye week (from being the #1 seed).
That said… Yes, I could see the Bills wanting to eliminate the (hated) Taperiots from the playoffs.

Gotta root for the Niners this coming week…I can’t root against them here…

Re: Week 18: For Whom to Root
Just read this story. If the Seahawks win, they are in. If the Broncos lose (very possible since they suck and play the Chargers) the Seahawks could make the playoffs and have the #1 overall pick.

The seahawks also need that the Lions beat Green Bay to make the playoffs

Beat the Browns. Pats and Dolphins lose. That's it.

And no need to wait until midnight if we are in the playoffs or not!

Most likely we face KC again in the wildcard. Definitely not expecting a win by a long shot, but will be happy if they put up a fight.

The steelers have been very good in the last few weeks for the ball control, so the perfect game plan would be to do like the 1990 Giants against the Bills in the super bowl. Some very long drive by the offense and not give big play to the chiefs offense and make some key stop...Like shortening the game...Easier said than done, but that would be their only shot like the 1990 Giants vs 49ers and Bills.Still a better shot that last year since they had zero offense all year long
The steelers would have a better chance against the bengals because they are in the same division.

Re: Week 18: For Whom to Root
Honestly, I will be happy no matter what happens. KP has proven himself (to me at least) that he is our next QB and with our picks and cap space we should be able to fill significant holes next off season and be back in the think of things for division lead and deep playoff run.

Re: Week 18: For Whom to Root
It looks like Miami is going with 3rd string rookie Skyler Thompson. Jets? Who knows who’s starting at QB. Maybe Flacco. Hope Jets D can pitch a shutout. At the very least week 18 is exciting and meaningful, something I didn’t see happening 10 weeks ago. Even 3 weeks ago.

Do you believe in Joe Flacco?!
-
Re: Week 18: For Whom to Root
What are your trust level in each of his game(10 is the highest,1 the lowest)
Browns-Steelers
Pats-Bills
Jets-Dolphins
Bonus:Texans vs colts(need a texans win for a possible higher second round draft pick)
Vikings vs Bears(need a vikings win for this scenario)...Nathan peterman will be the bears starter btw!

Browns send Jadeveon Clowney home from practice, status for Sunday unclear
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...unday-unclear/
Too funny because he said yesterday that this is unlikely he is back next year with the Browns!
