steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
The #Steelers are trading for #Vikings OL Jesse Davis, per rapsheet and @MikeGarafolo
.
from a vikings fan .....

Not sure how he will be used there but I think people here overreacting. He is ideally not starting for you but probably fine depth piece. He was slated as our starter till rookie Ed Ingram beat him out.

Well, it can't hurt, they have nowhere to go but up.
Sounds like he can play anything from tackle to center, so odds are decent he'll be better than somebody.

guessing they have 2 weeks to get him up to speed at RT and move Chuks to LT and Dan Moore JR to the bench ...
72 career starts so he cant suck that bad can he ?

At the listed price, the answer to DWin's question is; Yes, he can still suck.

He can suck and also still be better than some of the guys we've got.
It seems like Moore is the most glaring problem right now, so whether the plan is for this guy to take over for him directly, or take over for someone else who slides over to replace Moore, I'm all for it.
At least they realize there's a problem and are trying to do something about it this time, gotta give 'em that.
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
I won't turn down any help on the OL. Only way to go is up from here
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
If the Steelers come out of this season with a mid ranged O-Line…Tomlin and Kahn should be coach and executive of the year…lol

Absolutely. Should be fascinated.
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
Jesse Davis played for the Dolphins. Gee I wonder if Flores had any input on this trade :scratchchin:
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
From what Im reading on vikings boards, it seems like the general forecast is that Davis is a solid/serviceable guard/tackle. And he was a strong candidate to be cut only because he was beaten for the starting spot by a 2nd rounder, and supposedly the vikings have tons of youthful O-line depth that would be more valuable to keep in the long run. Also I keep seeing that he was going to be cut for salary cap savings. Theres hope, ill take it
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
He was with the dolphins before this season.Davis had signed as a free agent last march with the vikings
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
Slot him in like Gerry Mullins.
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
From reporting this morning sounds like this dude replaces Joe Haeg and/or Leglue and isn’t a threat to the “starters “
Fun.

His price was about as low as you could get…you’re not getting starter material for that price.

Yup. And that’s not a problem. Just wanted to pass it on to the thread. Seemed there’s a thought he would start.
Re: steelers TRADE for 0-Lineman
A 7th round pick seems to be about the standard compensation this time of year for a guy who was about to be released anyway.
You're not getting a starter for a normal team that way, but given the state of the OL, I'd bet a lot of backups for other teams would be an improvement over a lot of our starters.

he's started 75 games in this league so there is that ... Dan Moore Jr isnt starter material either but if Davis doesnt that almost certainly means Moore does

True…
But for the price you paid…expectations shouldn’t be too high.
