Matthew Slater visiting Steelers Saturday
Re: Matthew Slater visiting Steelers Saturday
Could be a good solution as the no. 4 WR on the team as long as he doesn't bitch, moan, and storm off the field

He's strictly a ST player, although a very good one at that for coverage. He has 1 catch for his whole career.
Re: Matthew Slater visiting Steelers Saturday
One way this makes sense. It is the first in a series of connected moves:
1. Sign Slater
2. Cut DHB
3. Draft a WR or 2
I fail to see how you can roster both Slater and DHB at the same time. That would mean the only functional WRs on the entire roster would be the "starting" 3 with no credible back-ups anywhere to be found. That would be irresponsible to say the least.
Re: Matthew Slater visiting Steelers Saturday
Slater will be 33 at the start of the season. James Summers will be 24 and does everything Slater would bring, IMO.

I would still draft a WR this draft. AND I would still draft a RB this draft.
Re: Matthew Slater visiting Steelers Saturday
Slater was still a pro bowl ST player last season at his older age. Interesting visit, even if its not really what were all looking for

It would have to signal the end of DHB

It is long overdue IMO.
Re: Matthew Slater visiting Steelers Saturday
Seems he left without a contract, not a good sign of him signing here.
