Steelers Should Have $8 Mil Cap Space to Play With

Clouds of money have hung over the Pittsburgh Steelers' offseason.

There was the one they dropped in the form of Antonio Brown's peak payday contract and the franchise tag they slapped on Le'Veon Bell. There remains the prospect of a multi-year deal with Bell and an extension for 2014 second-round pick Stephon Tuitt.

Yet what looms largest is the money the Steelers haven't spent, but still could, as they hold onto the greatest amount of cap space they've had in years.

I wonder if they would consider picking up Gerald Hodges ILB as a free agent? Hodges has been making the circuit and a lot of teams appear to have an interest.

Seems we've finally cleared ourselves of the SB team extension cap problem. In hindsight, it was well worth it to extend the window.

I wonder if we're going to spend it, or if we're going to stick it away to help sign Bell next year if he gets through this year without serious injury or drug suspension.

Need money for Bell (if clean), AV , Tuitt.

Extend your own. Maintain team chemistry. One reason the Steelers have continued to win in the 00s is because they hardly ever lose key free agents, and when they do, they usually have someone else waiting to fill in their role
