Would you be upset if ....
the steelers drafted an offensive tackle in the first round?....I saw some mock draft this morning and some people chose a OT(TJ Clemmings) with the 22nd pick!
In another mock draft, I see the steelers take Landon Collins in the first round....I do not know if it would be a good choice by the steelers
Marcus Peters would be a good choice, but his off-fields issue is a big concern!
Re: Would you be upset if ....
I know I am in the minority but I for one would not be that upset, depending on how the rest of the draft went.
I think if we go OT, Erving would be a more likely player.
Re: Would you be upset if ....
We should look for a 5'2" 150 lbs. half back that can pull double duty running back kicks and pass blocking on 3rd and long.

I do not want Clemmings , for me ( I know LLT will disagree ) he is a road grader in the run game but gives you nothing more than what we already have in pass pro if we are making a lateral move it should not at the cost of a first round selection ...
now if we are talking about a massive upgrade at Tackle I could get on board or as tex suggest a guy capable of playing all 5 spots across the line I would not be upset but would not be jumping for joy either because I think we have 1 shot at a starter capable OLB as a rookie in this draft and it almost certainly has to be in the first round or giving up our 2nd and 3rd to move to the top of the second to do it if we go any other way in round 1 ... that is an expense we simply can not afford IMO
the second round corners are better than the second round OLBers IMO so smart money goes OLB CB instead of reverse

Run Defending OLB with the best Coverage Corner. Or a Speed pass rusher with a zone type CB / FS type?
Re: Would you be upset if ....
The Steelers need to go defense in round 1, offensive line is the best it's been in about a decade
Re: Would you be upset if ....
The last time our defense, and in particular our secondary, sucked this badly (Dewayne "Burnt Toast" Washington, "Charred" Scott, Lee "Paper Champions" Flowers, etc.) we traded up 11 spots in the first and took Polamalu. Might be time again to make a similar move.
That being said, I wouldn't be overly upset if we went OT. Our current tackles are still no great shakes.

Nothing will, surprise me anymore. I'm sure something during that draft will upset me...but I could think of worse...

I'm 5'8", is that too tall for the job? :chuckle:
Re: Would you be upset if ....
It wouldn't surprise me if they gave Munchak a guy of his own.

Donovan Smith from Penn State.
Re: Would you be upset if ....
If it's a first round graded OT, then I'd be ok (not ecstatic). Never hurts to have depth and a future OT. Beachum may want more money in the future or move him to guard and let Ramon Foster go. I'm not overly thrilled with No Contact Lenses Gilbert knocking out the whole offensive line.
I still want a 1981 49ers draft (3 DBs):chuckle: also sign Deebo AND draft an OLB
Re: Would you be upset if ....
For me, I would be very disappointed. The defense needs an impact player and this is a very pressing need...Why not make a move as in 2003 with Polamalu and make a trade up for an impact player on defense!

for me it is because we simply have to many needs and it is rarely cost effective

Which is why they WOULD do it this year...
Re: Would you be upset if ....
I'd hate to see this exciting offense the Steelers have be wasted by a defense that couldn't stop Jamarcus Russell high on purple drank. It is still clear that you need a solid defense to win a championship. The Steelers need to devote their attention to defense, especially OLB and DB, those positions are a joke
Re: Would you be upset if ....
We couldn't even sign Brice, our journeyman CB. Should be 2 CBs and 1 OLB in the first four rounds. No more gimmick players please.
Re: Would you be upset if ....
I wouldn't call a player like Erving a gimmick player, but I do think that drafting an OT in the first or even the second very slim.
I have read that Ray may be sliding a little even after a good pro day. Scouts are still concerned about his thin lower body, but even at that the chances of him making it to us are even slimmer that us drafting an OT.
Hearing talk about Dupree and the Steelers resurface. I think much more likely than the Ray idea.
Kinda have a feeling that the Steelers are looking hard for an outside pass rush in the 1st. Like Dwins stated, a good corner will be easier to find in the second than a good pass rush.
Re: Would you be upset if ....
i wouldnt mind a big ugly

Just since the last mock draft....I'm leaning towards us actually trading DOWN. Get OLB Eli Harold at the end of the 1st...Then aim for CB's Josh Shaw and Eric Rowe.

I have Rowe and Shaw both as 3rd round prospects but seen Rowe mocked in the first round a couple days ago by Josh Norris ... who knows with this years crop of prospects after 15 or so not much separation other than style into the 50s or so ... ( interestingly enough I think both could make good FS prospects , so if they did not pan out as CB's you could end up with a fine FS )
Doss is looking like outstanding value if you believe the pundits but somehow I think teams have done better homework .....
