Tiger-Elin divorce final; she gets $750 million

The London Sun is reporting that the Tiger Woods-Elin Nordegren divorce is signed and final, with only the traditional exchange of lineup cards at Orlando County Court next week remaining to complete the proceedings.

And though the settlement amount to now ex-wife Elin Nordegren has become the stuff of myth and legend over the past few weeks, The Sun reports that it is indeed 500 million pounds ... or, in third-world U.S. currency, $750 million.

The circumstances of the marriage don't matter. Both came to the table and agreed to wed, be husband and wife, and all that that implies. Among those implications are to be loyal. She delivered. He did not. By all accounts, he didn't merely slip, he was an unrepentant hose monster.

This is what happens when Little Tiger makes decisions for Big Tiger in the context of marriage. The advertisers go away. The Bride and children go away. A piece of the fortune goes away. If Little Tiger had made the same decisions as a single man, there would have been no story. We'd all still be mesmerized by Tiger, whether on the links or in a commercial.

We see the Tigers and Bens and Al Gores and John Edwards of the world behave the way they do with so much to lose. I will never understand what possesses a man to risk anything at all, much worse family, station, reputation, and fortune, for the highly overrated pleasure of getting off. Its baffling.

Why? Tiger's been beat up plenty, both by the press and by Elin too. He was wrong, I'm pretty sure he knows and regrets it.And if nothing else he deserves credit for protecting Elin from the assualt charge she surely had coming to her. And before you say he deserved it, tell me that the next time some guy beats up his wife because she was cheating.

People marry and get divorced all the time for all kinds of reasons. Cheating is merely a symptom of a bad marriage and not neccessarily the root cause of the problem. But regardless, he owes her what she needs to raise those children and nothing more than what the pre-nup stated for herself.

You should get back no more than what you put into a situation.

I was sitting at an intersection with a colleague waiting for the light in the Isleworth area of Orlando this week. He says "That's the Perkin's where Tiger picked up the waitress". Picked up the waitress? Whuddya freekin kidding? A waitress? "Yeah, he went into Perkin's, picked up a waitress, went across the street to that parking lot and she gave him a hummer.". Do what? I'm looking at Saint Somebody Catholic Church. Are you telling me he left his house less than a mile from here, went into that restaurant, talked some waitress into leaving her job to go across the street and go down on him? Is that what you're telling me? "Yep.".

Upon returning home, I recount my incredulity to my Bride. "That was all over the news. The poor church had media camped out in their parking lot for weeks. They couldn't get them to leave.". Excuse the hell out of me. I did not know that. I don't watch a lot of TV. Why would I need to know that?

Apparently this @#$% went on all the time. I mean, if you can leave your home, Bride and children to pop out for a quick blow job, you are quite the dandy indeed.

Oh, and she turns out to have been the "manager" of the Perkin's. Now I understand. And the hummer evolved into an extended "relationship". That's better.

What a pig. Why was that church subjected to that @#%$? What is wrong with people? This tacky little planet skeeves me out.

He could have gotten away with paying just what the prenup said. He chose to pay a lot more to keep her quiet.

Settlement or not, Tiger is yet another pretentious clown athlete who thought he could get away with it. He didn't stop until he got caught, therefore he's a world-class A-Hole.

While I may tend to agree with the idea of not being able to "get more than you put into" a marriage, it is however, still a marriage and all that it implies as Vincent alludes too. The reason I would "tend" to agree is that Tiger was Tiger before Elin entered his life. Just like Paul McCartney was Paul McCartney before he got thrashed for millions that he earned before vows were spoken. These guys already had their riches. They weren't helped and supported by these women when they made most of it. They didn't work jobs to support husbands that wanted to finish college to make a better future for "both" of them. They benefit for the "lifestyle they are accustomed to" by marring wealthy, and now they get to live that way for the rest of their life because of it.

Now having said that, Tiger was unquestionably at fault here. The fact that he is so wealthy probably made him arrogant enough to think even if he didn't get away with it, he could afford the "costs" if he did. Even if the amount of $750 million turns out to be accurate, it won't hurt his pocket as much as his image and lost prospect of "a family". It does make it sting a bit more than if it were less, but apparently Tiger likes a smack on the ass better than a pat on the butt anyway.

Elin is ONLY getting about 100 million dollars (780 million Kronor) I think everyone got the Kronor and dollar mixed-up.
