Holy crap, it'll be the first time I've been back to Pittsburgh in almost 4 years (having kids will make it hard to travel for a while). But, I am super fired up for this one, even more than I would be to go to a Steelers game in the first place.

Why? Through an incredible stroke of luck, we have tickets in the owners' suite, and field passes before the game. How did this happen? The company I work for was recently bought out by a private equity group ... and one of the founders of that group is also part-owner of the Steelers. No shit. So, suffice to say, the guy HOOKED US UP. I swear I am not making this up; I will have to think of something that I can hold up and have my picture taken with while I'm there to prove it's not a hoax. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to this.

More to the point, I get in Thursday evening and leave Monday morning .. on Friday night I'm supposed to go out to Dave and Buster's with some uncles and cousins, but otherwise, I really have not much of a plan or a clue what to see while I'm there. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions what I ought to do? As I mentioned, it's been a while since I've been back, so I'll be a bit lost. I will not have the kids around, so no need to do kid-friendly stuff. Anyway .. thanks in advance for the help, and hell yeah!

Let me be the first to say :countdown steelreserve! :heh:

Seriously though, let me know what your interests are and I can make some suggestions. If you're going to the Dave and Buster's in The Waterfront, that's only about 15 minutes away from where I live. If you're not familiar with it, it's a nice place - since you won't be bringing any kids along, you can ignore the video game area and play pool or hit the bar before or after you eat. Anyway, hope you have a great time! :drink:

Have a great time, man! Don't forget to grab a Primanti's sammich and a cold IC while you're in town!

Primanti's! I knew there was something I wanted to do while I was there and just couldn't think of it. I've heard all kinds of good stuff about their sandwiches and always wanted to try one, but just have never been there at the same time the idea was in my head. Put yourself in my shoes and ask yourself: If you could just get ONE sandwich there for the next 3 years, what would it be? I like just about all kinds of food, except that I absolutely hate mustard and think mushrooms are just ok.

I've been to Dave & Buster's and basically everything about it is awesome, just where I live the nearest one is like an hour away, so I hardly ever go there. I think I'm going to be staying close to downtown, so anything else around there that's fun to do at night, or during the day for that matter, I need to know about. Last time I was there, I already did go on that submarine they have parked at the science museum, and also the Incline, Fort Pitt, most of the typical downtown stuff that's around.

Also, I have to ask the group, what should I bring with me as a token to hold up in the picture for proof? I wish I had a SU shirt to wear, but hell, I don't. They probably won't let me bring a 40 of Olde English on the field or in the owner's box either, so that's out. Although if they do show a camera shot of the owners' box on TV and you see a guy with a 40, that's probably me. Anyway ... help me think of something to bring in there.

It's too bad you're staying downtown, otherwise I'd recommend you check out Danny's Pizza and Subs on Rt. 88 in Bethel Park, and try the Italian sub. You will never have a better Italian sub in your life. If there was one sandwich I'd try while visiting Pittsburgh, that would be it...other than Primanti's of course.

Also, you might want to check out the Sports Museum about a block away from the convention center. Pretty cool place. There's a great Italian restaurant near there called Lidia's. I've never been there, but from what I've heard, the food is awesome. There's also a casino right next to the science center now, if you're into that sort of thing, and an amphitheater next door to Heinz Field that often has live entertainment. Just a few suggestions, since I'm sure you've done just about everything else there is to do around town.

Holy crap, that's right, I totally forgot there's a casino now! I am definitely into that kind of thing. I've got family in Vegas and have probably made about $1,000 counting cards in the past couple years. Definitely going to go down and check out the blackjack tables. That may be something that's better to do Friday during the day, before they jack up the minimum bets for the weekend and all the people in town for the game.
