Update is the league will allow it. But remember, this isn't the players deciding this and going out to but red white and blue gear. this isn't them wearing a product they purchased with the money going to the victims families. This is Reebok sending stuff they made to the players they have endorsement deals with. the stuff has the British company's logo all over it and is a marketing ploy. Both Briggs and Jamaal Charles make sure they mention Reebok's name when they bring this up. I bet they are paid well for this and any fine would be covered by Reebok. Still, the league will let it slide because not to would be bad PR.

I look at it like Applebee's having a 9-11 special of half off entrees on red white and blue plates. It's crass. They seem to be trying to cash in on 9-11. If it is confirmed that Briggs and Charles are making money for this I will never respect then again.

We're in complete agreement Vis. Doesn't happen much, but, well...

These kinds of commemorations need to be self-motivated, spontaneous, and about the action, not about the person who is making the action. I hope to see some other players do some things that aren't acts of commercialized attention whoring...

Is there a monetary motivation for Reebok to do this...maybe. Do I still think the players should wear the stuff Reebok sent them...definitely.

I think this is more like when the players wear pink gloves, sleeves, shoes, and chinstraps in October for breast cancer awareness. All that stuff is made by Reebok because they are the official uniform provider of the NFL. There is little the player gets to choose in what they wear on the field.

Also, it's up to the player if they want to wear the stuff. The NFL isn't going to force any player. I don't think any players are being paid any extra to wear this stuff. The NFL is providing them with something to wear so they won't be fined for violating the league's uniform policy. But the stuff that Reebok made will be the only stuff allowed, anything else worn that hasn't been approved will result in a fine.

Note the fact that the endorsers (i.e. the players) are endorsing this stuff in every presser. This is not about 9/11.

It's about endorsers endorsing product and brand recognition.

If this was a sincere commemorization, no one would ever hear the name Reebok.

I think it's a great idea for them to wear the stuff, but with the cancer awareness, I've personally never heard an endorsement when it's being mentioned. It's pretty tacky to make the endorsements for 9/11.

I have read that the league will allow them to wear the red, white and blue with no fines. If I can come up with a link, I'll post it.
