In Baltimore, the land of the perpetually anxious, Ravens fans are damp with the usual flop sweat as the season opener against the Steelers approaches.

Also as usual, people in this town are ascribing all sorts of Armageddon-like significance to the game.

As I and others have said, it may be Week 1, but this is the Ravens' Super Bowl and the organization and fans are walking a slippery slope. Ravens lose again, no telling how big the collapse would be. The Ravens are not battling against a rival anymore, they're fighting a mental block.

That said, they're still a tough team and it'll be another fight Sunday.

When the Steelers beat the Ravens on Sunday afternoon.....it could cause a nuclear meltdown in Baltimore that causes a blow up of epic proportions. Hell, the Ravens could end up not making the playoffs because they won't be able to focus on anything but the Steelers.

In Pittsburgh, the goal is to win the Super Bowl.

In Baltimore, the goal is to beat Pittsburgh.

And that's why the Steelers have won two Super Bowls and played in three since the 2005 season while the Ravens haven't been to one since the 2000 season.
