Just days before the Eagles' season opener against the St. Louis Rams, Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson is being advised not to show up for the game.

Who's giving Jackson this advice? None other than former Eagles route runner Terrell Owens.

T.O. joined 97.5 The Fanatic with Mike Missanelli in Philadelphia on Tuesday and was asked if he would play in Week 1 if he were Jackson, who is embroiled in contract negotiations.

"Absolutely not," he said. "I would have to better myself and my family and my situation. That’s ridiculous."

Yes, I'm sure Jackson's family is starving in the street because of his poverty.

Please. I hate when they resort to that kind of shit....like they're forced into food stamps or something on 600k a year. Is he underpaid for his position and accomplishments? Sure. But don't make it sound like you're headed to the poorhouse...

TO is bored and old. He's got nothing better to do except stir the pot. Next he will cry for DJax and say that's his WR.

OT is not the one to be taking advise from.

What if jackson does not show up and the eales light it up without him? I think that would hurt his push for a big contract.

He'll get a new contract from the Eagles, and he'll make big money. But he's not worth Larry Fitz money because he's too small and that's a disadvantage because he has a smaller skill set than Fitz.

I hate when these spoiled fucking athlete whine like they are living in section 8 housing living off of food stamps and have to choose between having electric and having heat in the winter. Honestly, they are all overpaid for playing a kid's game. They'd hate it back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's where players had to have a second job at least in the offseason to make ends meet. Guys went from morning practice to the steel mills or sold insurance.

Agreed. Another clown (along with Randy Moss) who I'm glad will never get a ring.

If hundreds of millions of people sat through billions in advertising to watch you beat off, you'd get a $30 million contract too. And, your soiled towels would go for $250 a pop. It's silly to talk about "overpaid kid's game" and "whining." Pro sports is the purest form of meritous pay. Hell, websites generate ad revenue with NFL fans whining about athlete pay. THAT'S how valuable NFL-caliber talent is!

They make more money than 90% of the people in this country. They make more than enough to live life comfortably and if they are stars they make a ton more. No professional athlete should EVER say shit like "I gotta put food on the table" because IMHO, that's spitting in the face of people working two jobs so they can actually put food on the table for their families.

I don't blame any of them for wanting to make more money, but I don't have to feel sorry for them when they are banking $600k a year and got a signing bonus worth millions of dollars while I am unemployed looking for a job on a daily fucking basis being barely able to cover my bills with what I bring home on unemployment.

Well, I'm not disagreeing about merit pay.

Play the game. Honor your contract. Don't quit. Want paid more? Go out and prove you earn it! Again, if you have to! Want Fitzgerald money, go play and put up Fitzgerald numbers.

This is also more about TO than Jackson. All accounts are that he'll be out on the field and playing.
