BALTIMORE During the past three seasons, the Ravens' biggest problem offensively against Pittsburgh has been protecting quarterback Joe Flacco.

Now, the challenge is magnified because the first time the Ravens' projected starting offensive line will take a snap together in a game is the season opener against the high-pressure Steelers defense.

"We're going to make sure it's not a problem," coach John Harbaugh said after Monday's practice. "That's our jobs, all of us together, to make sure it's not a problem. We're playing on Sunday at 1 o'clock. We're not making any excuses. We know what they're going to do. They know what we're going to do. There'll be a few wrinkles here and there and we'll go play. I'm very confident in how we're going to play."

Well, at least not until after the game.

O-Lines around the league better be ready this week cause there are going to be 32 teams blitzing...a lot!

What about the rest of the team?

I think we should penetrate that line pretty well. The dude from Dallas is good, but the center is really the hardest position to just plug into the line if he hasn't even gotten a week to practice with the QB. The thing I most worry about is the screen to Rice. They'll have that play on speed dial all day long. I hope we've got a little something prepared for that, like Timmons faking the blitz and dropping back to crush the little maggot. Or better yet, pulling a Harrison and taking it the other way.

Same here - I was so worried that they'd show the KC-Buffalo game in Denver due to KC being a division rival of the Broncos. They've pulled the same kind of crap before.

I am less worried about a Ravens O line that consists of former first round picks in Oher, McKinnie, Grubbs and a pro bowler in Birk with Vontae Leach behind them...........than I am of our line with Doug Legursky and John Scott as starters.

If their patched O-Line can't contain the Steelers and we can get to Flacco all night this once could be easier than we thought.

Ben don't need no stinking O-line.

I know your pain. I was an army brat trying to watch NFL games overseas. Back in the day, we'd stay up until the wee hours of the night to watch the Super Bowl live.
