It would be great if we could get Troy wrapped up before the season.

Would be nice to lock him up now so we can work on the Wallace next year

Steelers FO has been very efficient in handling this lockout. Signing Polamalu would be the final feather in their cap.

Tricky. He'll want long-term, and the Steelers (wisely) will balk.

The Steelers generally don't sign based on what players DID, but on what they WILL STILL DO. They knew that, and had that lesson bite them again when they made Chad Scott the (at the time) highest paid Steeler in team history. In this case, I would consider an exception, as Troy has literally won us championships with his play. Obviously there will be a decline, especially if he signs a long-term deal, but as his body slows, it'll be his mind that allows him to still make game-changing plays.

I think it's worth it in this case. Not many others, but definitely in this one case. I also like that he changed his conditioning routine. I didn't, but as others have pointed out, what he was doing wasn't working. Maybe a more conventional routine will extend his career a little...

Sounds like he got a deal done, from his facebook page: "I am happy to say that I will retire a Pittsburgh Steeler!"

Steelers and Troy Polamalu have agreed to a new 4 year deal. Beat the kickoff deadline. Another key defender locked up longterm
