I predict that Cotchery could take 3rd WR spot.

Just think, about 10 days ago, people were condemning this signing.

Not likely, unless you see him replacing Ward. Emanuel Sanders and Antoine Brown will be ahead of him in the depth chart I would guess. I can't see him as anything more than number 5. Nice depth at the position though.

I don't think WR is a position we need to be concerned about. Not only is Cotchery a nice pickup, Brown is looking like he wants the #1 this year. Will be interesting to see the battle when Sanders is healthy. Wallace has been quiet so far.

I like this signing! It's a relief to know we have someone cabable of making big plays because you know the injuries are bound to happen.

He looked like I remebered him from the Jets. Good receiver. Don't forget Battle. He made some nice cathes last night as well.

I love the quality and depth at the wide receiver position. wow.

If the o line gels and they let Ben start slinging I think we can more than hang with teams like NO & NE in a shootout.

....perhaps Wallace is "savin' it" for the regular season....

We have a very solid WR corps and Ben must be salivating! I liked what I saw from Cotchery last night and hope he is somehow worked into the game rotation - I think he could be a huge playmaker for us.

He was really impressive last night. He was also impressive in training camp aswell

Not only does he add depth, but he is a force who likes routes into the middle of the field and is not afraid to make a catch and taking a huge hit. Now we have 5 skilled guys as our WR's and that makes the offense potent def. when you have Heath Miller as your TE.

Having this depth at WR is very nice. But you never know how someone will be playing over the course of a season so we may not even have a definite #3, #4, and #5...they could be changed around all season depending on their play.

I love Brown but he still makes little mistakes, like dropping a simple screen pass, but then he makes up for it by burning samuel for a TD. So he is doing very well but as a young guy it won't be too uncommon to see a silly occassional drop like on the screen pass.

And also its still early so that could very easily go away all together once the season starts.

Agree Nadroj. They are stacked at WR now from 1-5 with Battle being 6th and the S/T guy. Even Battle did fairly well and has had a good camp at WR. I'm happy with the receiving corps. I wouldn't mind Grisham as a practice squad guy...he plays hard.

Scottie Montgomery doing a good job with the young guys. I'm sure having Hines helps him too.

Its so cool there is a coach from Duke on the staff.

These WR's we have are beginning to become so valuable we could trade 2 or 3 of them for some top notch talent for other positions that we're deficient in...

But Cotchery's gonna have to show that he's consistent, game after game, in making such an impact.

Let's keep it that way. Let other teams sleep on Wallace while he blows past them. If our WR's are "quiet" they may unleash he...er, never mind.

the top 5 spots are set. The real battle is for the 6th spot. Lyons Battle and Grisham. Cotchery is a huge signing for us. The 3rd WR spot will be a rotating person kinda like last year. Who ever has the hot hand will be there.

that wasn't a drop, it was good defense by Samuel. i thought it was a drop at first too

As much as I'd hate to see it, I thought the same thing, but maybe only one of them.

Wallace has been quiet due to the fact he only played one series against the Redskins. I think he was probably double teamed most of the night against the Eagles. He will shine when it comes time to turn them loose in about three weeks.

I also think that Cotchery will make an immediate impact on the offense. Lord knows Ben can use all of the escape routes he can find when defense is hanging on him.

No, honestly I dont think you will see him much on the field. Ward is not going anywhere. Brown has been fantastic and he has great speed, When emmanuel sanders comes back he will be on the field for sure. Of course Wallace is our #1 so he will be on the field. So the only time you will really see him is when we run 5 wide, which really isnt that much. Cotchery provides some nice depth but I dont want to see him on the field over sanders or brown.

Cothchery is a great replacement for ARE.
1. He is good at getting open and has good hands.
2. How about having Ward throw to Cotchery?
3. Battle also caught everything throw to him, they were on fire.
