After the Super Bowl, Coach Arians contemplated retirement. He said that it was his quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, who convinced him to return for another season.

I wonder how our top 4 receivers stack up with the rest of the league. I am really excited about the prospects for Wallace, Brown & Smith this year.

Whechever side of the line you are about Ariens, you have to admit that this was NOT the year for retirement. He did us a huge favor by staying at least one more year.

One more season and then BB can take over the play calling permanently. (Let the play implode, run for your life, and then throw it to Wallace.)

does this mean he is going to be even more pass-happy?

We all laugh now, but the mods won't be when the regular season starts and everyone is bitching about a bad call :)

Meh - I just treat it as an inevitability now. Kinda like the sun rising in the East and setting in the West.

I hope he stays 10 more seasons, but that's just me.

I can see him retiring after this season, especially if the Steelers get to and/or win the Super Bowl.

The first four words of the title of this thread just got a 100 million hits on google. :chuckle:

If he retires, does that mean we'll have a consistent offense finally?

I was hoping for a not so predictable one.

No, it'll just mean more of the exact same griping about what a moron the new OC is when the offense fails to magically start scoring 70 points a game. I give it 6 games, tops, for that to start happening when a new OC eventually is hired.

Isn't that the sad truth?

Not a fan of Arians myself. Really thinks he makes some bad play calls...and is super vanilla. However, every OC makes bad play calls and I am a big fan of Ben. If Ben likes the guy and keeps performing at a Super Bowl level, I can't really complain deep down inside.

This is from an article related to the topic.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_751748.html

Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians considered retiring after the Super Bowl but decided against it after talking to several people close to him. One was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The two spent time together in Georgia shortly after the Super Bowl.

Jeez, does anything GOOD ever happen in Georgia?! :P

Arians offence

A. Throws the ball too much.

B. Runs too much.

C. Is predictable.

D. Is grab bag.

Please only use one per week.

Definitely predictable and I think Arians would admit he'd pass every down if he could...lol.

First drive that doesn't end with a touchdown. Even in the pre season.

I do respect your opinion, but after 2 games into the season, he will be all of the above. There are at least 50,000 fans out there, lawyers, doctors, and truck drivers that know they can take this team to the SB, and win it. How ever the man that has been on this team for 2 SB wins, and was on the team that lost 1, in their opinion, is not capable. I don't buy into that idea.
