When safeties Troy Polamalu and Will Allen didn't dress for the first preseason game, Ryan Mundy assumed he was going to be in for a long day.

And when Ryan Clark left five plays into the game with a shoulder stinger, the Steelers were down to three safeties: undrafted rookie free agent Brett Greenwood, first-year player Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith, who spent all of last year on the practice squad, and Mundy.

That long day for Mundy turned into all day............

He played well against the Redskins and I like that he can play both safety spots.

Does Donovan Warren make the 53? he played quite a bit vs the skins. I doubt there are numbers for him to make it, but he looked good. Mundy was serviceable and should make it again.

Safety depth is the thing that's worried me most with this team. Hope Mundy is ready

Damon Cromartie wasn't too bad either. I'd be great if he can unseat Will Allen too

Gosh he was such a pleasant surprise last season. i never expected him to amount to anything, but he had a pass break up in the endzone in both the Jets and panthers game that he started and that really changed my mind. I hope he's far from reaching his ceiling and becomes our future at free safety.
