Patriots | Two CBs may be on roster bubble (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/forums/gnews.php?id=732535-patriots-two-cbs-may-be-on-roster-bubble)

New England Patriots (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/team/24/nfl/new-england-patriots) CBs Darius Butler (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/player/20758/nfl/darius-butler) and Jonathan Wilhite (http://www.steelersuniverse.com/player/18794/nfl/jonathan-wilhite) could be on the roster bubble because neither played until the fourth quarter of the first preseason game.

I remember several Steeler fans wanting us to draft this Butler kid out of U-CONN. I also remember LOADS of draft pundits saying how Butler was the " STEAL " of the draft for New England.....

Post-Draft Outlook: BEST PICK: UConn
CB Darius Butler might be a steal as the 41st overall pick. He established
himself as the top cornerback in the Big East Conference and also served a
dual-role on special teams, which could keep him in the mix when final cuts are
made in July. Butler finished with the 10th most return yards in school history
and also displayed a nose for the end zone, becoming the first player in
conference history to record a touchdown on a kick return, an interception
return, a reception and a rushing play. A closer look at the Patriots' picks:
2/41 -- Darius Butler, CB, 5-10, 183, Connecticut...Butler isn't the tallest
corner in the world at 5-10, but his ability to perform on special teams may
help the Patriots absorb the loss of Ellis Hobbs, who they traded to the Eagles
in exchange for two fifth-round picks. The Patriots had back-to-back picks here
in the second round and used them to sew up the front and back lines on defense.
Butler is a ballhawk with exceptional speed and could be perfect in a slot
defender role against elusive receivers underneath. He needs to play a role in
the kick-return game to earn his playing time. - by The Sports Xchange

And now look at him just 2 years later, a possible early camp cut by the Pats. So not to worry Limas....you're not alone on the " Bust train " :nono:

With Dowling and that guy from last year (can't remember his name right now) they have bolstered their CBs recently. He just may be a victim of numbers game

But yeah, he never really displayed much on the field either. Someone will give him a chance though

and add to that list other receivers from the 08 draft- Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly (both redskins!), James Hardy and Dexter Jackson. Donnie Avery if he does not come back from his injury too. And the bengals' Jerome Simpson was a bust till December of last year. He's now their starter I believe

truly a horrible draft for receivers

Actually, NE has been rather bad at drafting as of late. They cover their errors by having so much spaghetti to throw at the wall in the form of so many draft picks every year. Something is bound to stick.

They throw "wet toilet paper" at the wall and see what sticks.
