Filed to ESPN: Plaxico Burress will sign with the N.Y. Jets. Confirmed. 1-year deal for $3,017,000, fully guaranteed. Plax is a Jet.

Sorry, Ben! But he got 2 meals out us yesterday.

The Jets love those former Steelers WRs

EDIT:Plaxico would have been a 3 or 4 for us but he will be the 2 for the Jets, I don't blame him

Oh well. $3 million for one season. I wouldn't pay that.

He will have a bigger role on the Jets and I don't blame him either. Jets also (sadly) give him a pretty good chance to win. I honestly never saw him going to the Giants with teams like the Eagles, Steelers, and Jets after him all of which are looking to be pretty successful this season. I didn't see the Giants in that category.

Now we can move on and possibly look elsewhere to improve the team. I just hope he doesn't have an amazing season. :chuckle:

There was no need for us to pay that. Our WR corp is solid without him, better than the Jets I think. It is interesting that there seems to me yet another team chancing the Steelers. The Jets didn't show much interest until the Steelers got involved.

Thank God. Really didn't want him here. Really didn't fit here. A perfect foot soldier for the foot man. Now let's focus on more pressing matters at hand.

I'm glad that he found a spot elsewhere. I really didn't want him back. I'm 100% happy with our current WRs. I'd rather see a FA added at TE, OL and CB.

I don't know if Plex would have got much playing time here (esp after not being on the field for so long, and we're ALREADY basically considered the best WR group in the NFL without Plex)... he chose the best fit for himself. I wish him luck until we play them.

Plaxico Burress told Eagles he would go there if they met his price. Jets asked if same deal applied. Yes, they were told. Offer and deal.

I saw from a couple places that they think it was in the neighborhood of $2 million...

OMG. That means that with our current roster, McFadden or Gay will have to cover Holmes when we play them ! NOT GOOD !

Over 3 million guaranteed for a guy who hasn't played in 2 1/2 years, and hasn't had a good season in 4 years.

We need backup at TE worse than we need Ben's tall receiver.

We are blessed with an abundance of high quality WRs this year.

Hines is very near the end of his career. We need to focus and invest on developing the younger WRs.

Regardless of his past record, this kid DOES have talent and potential.

The kid has nothing. Mentally he can't hack it. And his Achillies injury will doom any chance he has. Those injuries are killers for most anyone. But especially for a WR who is tall, and has very very thin ankles like Sweed. I feel for him, but to keep him here is a waste of anykind of money, and a roster space.

:chuckle: wow dude...

you just like to slam everyone don't you? Did I just name this guy the best WR we have or something?? I just stated a FACT that we have a 6'8" WR that IF he developed would be an amazing target obviously because of his height.

and katmandu said that Limas Sweed COULD still potentially become a good WR.

Burress was coveted, but Steelers remain hopeful TE Daniel Graham winds up in the fold. Still a capable receiver and a devastating blocker.

Wow..Steelers make no big moves in free agency. Which basically means they'll still be Super Bowl contenders. Be honest....when was the last time the Steelers have made a huge Free agency pick up? When was the last time they totally stunk up a season.

You can buy vegatables from a farmer...and leave it up to him that they are good. Or you can grow your own and have complete control on how they turn out.

SNAP maybe that's why sWEED needs to be gotten rid of!!

3 Million for a reciever who is 34 and not played for over 2 years, the Jets can have him. Another cancer out of our locker room and truly I think Rex is just trying to buy his talent, but when the chemistry DOESN'T mix he will regret it.

comments like this are a real head scratcher.

“Well, the head coach is going to be first and foremost,” Burress said. “It’s going to be somebody to where, well, you know, he has an open door policy, I can walk in his office and sit down and talk to him whether it’s about football or life or whatever that may be. Then, of course, second, it’s going to be a quarterback. I’m a wide receiver. I mean, that’s a no brainer. I’m not going to sit here and say it’s not. And surround myself with guys that are hungry and guys that know how to play and want to win.”

I really didn't care of he came back or not but ....really?

Don't see the controversy. Basically saying he #1, wants a team with coach who he can communicate with and #2, have a QB he thinks is going to be able to get him the ball, as well as a team of guys playing to win.
