I am. The guy is a Hell of a run blocker. Not your pass catching tight end. Ill easily take him for the right price.

Agree

I'd take him. And unlike Spaeth, even has some experience catching the ball

We could use him.

With all this Burress talk, I would MUCH rather use whatever monies we would toss at Plex, and try to sign " Todd Heap " as another TE. I mean he is just as tall as Plex is. And I don't know, maybe it's just me but the thought of STEALING away the " RAT BIRD " fans favorite Raven is appealing to me. And, a 3-WR combo of Ward-Sanders, and Wallace, along with BOTH Heath Miller & Todd Heap going out on a 5-Wideout set puts a Big Ole smile on my face

Nah, Todd Heap is injury prone. Hell Baltimore cut him, we don't need their castoffs.

Miller has benn more injured the past three years then Heap...check your facts. And he is definitely more reliable then Plex is physically.

Heap is good but injury prone and wed have to pay him more money then Graham.

I'd like to see Graham in the B&G.

If Graham doesn't come to pass as a Back-up TE, what about Alge Crumpler ? He was just released from the Patriots. And he is a good Blocker, and can catch some as well.

I guess if you want to cherry pick numbers you could say that, but over the long haul Heap hasn't been as reliable or as healthy as Miller. Out of 160 games (not counting playoff games) he's only played in 133. So he played in 83 % of the possible games. Now Heath on the other hand has played in 92 out of 96 games (not counting playoffs) putting his number at 96% (technically its .9583 but who's counting).

they did? dammit, that means no chance they cut Lee Smith :(

I'd take him over Graham Heap and Crumpler

Heap will probably be a Cardinal soon I read anyways...

TE is a spot where we need to get someone. Graham would be a perfect fit but to be honest Id love to piss off some Ratbird fans by signing Heap. Nothing more than a 1 yr deal and he could be our 3rd TE behind Miller and Johnson.

hmm id rather have the proven talent. Particularly a tight end who is a servicable catcher and phenomenal blocker. Exactly what we want for our #2.

Any guesses on how much he might cost?

Graham? He should be cheap. Blocking TEs are a dime a dozen.

Graham is a great run blocker and can catch a little bit. Wouldn't mind it...

LOL I"m with steelerfan, I think it would be funny as hell to swipe Todd Heap especially considering how big a surprise it was to everyone that the Ravens let him go. Heap is probably still shocked. Can you think of anything that would motivate a good player like that more than an opportunity to cause his former team grief? and who causes the Ravens more grief than us? lol

I wouldn't mind if the Steelers signed someone like Heap, Graham, Crumpler or even Manumaleuna. All of these guys can block, but only Heap is a receiving threat.

I see Manumaleuna was cut

did he suck in Chicago or what? don't watch a lot of bears games

He's easily the best blocker out of that group. But he got a nice contract last season, which makes me wonder if he flat out sucked

Oh well. Manumaleuna?

From what I can gather he definitely fell off last year in his blocking. I mean, the bears signed Spaeth to replace him!

No idea who we'll go to now

I would look at David Thomas who was a Saint last year or Zach Miller and possibly Tom Santi they all can block and Zach Miller can be an offensive threat

lol, Zach Miller will earn more than Heath Miller. Whether from al Davis or not. Just not here

I do like thomas. Is he a FA?

Zach Miller is approaching elite TE status if he keeps his production up...he's way out of the Steelers price range. Way, way out. I think that's part of the reason other teams haven't pursued him.

I would LOVE to see him here with Heath...lol.
