Report: US battleships cross Suez Canal

According to Al-Quds al-Arabi report, 11 American warships, one Israeli vessel, crossed Suez Canal into Red Sea

Eleven American battleships and an Israeli one crossed the Suez Canal Friday en route to the Red Sea, the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper reported.

According to the report, traffic in the canal was halted for several hours in order to allow US Navy vessels, which included an aircraft carrier and carried infantry troops, armored vehicles and ammunition, to pass from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.

It was further reported that eyewitnesses detected an Israeli warship among the vessels. No confirmation has been received from Egyptian authorities.

The report also noted that fishing activities in the area were stopped during the ships' passage as well as traffic on the bridges above the canal.

Retired Egyptian General Amin Radi, chairman of the national security affairs committee, told the paper that "the decision to declare war on Iran is not easy, and Israel, due to its wild nature, may start a war just to remain the sole nuclear power in the region.

wish they told us what vessels, I'd like to know what we sent in there. Wonder if there were any subs too.

Truman, strike group to deploy Friday

The six ships, air wing and 6,000 sailors who comprise the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group will deploy Friday from Norfolk Naval Station, Va., after a seven-month delay.

The strike group was fully qualified and ready to deploy in October. However, its scheduled deployment was delayed when the carrier Enterprise was seven months late coming out of the yard. Big E’s delay also caused the carrier Nimitz, which deployed from San Diego on July 31, to stretch its cruise from six to eight months. The Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, having deployed for five months in 2009, had to deploy again to the Middle East in January.

The strike group is scheduled for a six-month deployment. In addition to the carrier, the strike group includes Carrier Air Wing 3; Destroyer Squadron 26; the cruiser Normandy; destroyers Winston S. Churchill, Oscar Austin and Ross; and the German frigate Hessen

the US navy doesn't even have "battleships" anymore ... they were all decommissioned long ago.

That's right. The age of broadsides is long over. We have Destroyers instead, right?

We're dealing with language here. It was an Israeli news source. We know what they're talking about. A group of US Navy ships passed through the Suez. "Battle group"? Maybe.

I have a picture of the captain and crew. If you are an enemy of the U.S., and this doesn't scare you ...... they will make you sorry you messed with the US of A. But they will also make you feel comfortable, fix your marriage and take care of all your personal problems while doing so.:

Cruisers are bigger than destroyers, destroyers are bigger than frigates - - but they're all getting bigger...and are mostly guided missle platforms now
