A broken foot that slowed Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger through much of the end of last season -- and into the playoffs and Super Bowl -- may need an operation to correct the injury.

Can't he get through one offseason without making the headlines?

Well he does actually have to have surgery first. We are on the wait and see program with the foot.

Too bad the decision couldn't come sooner! The sooner he get's surgery the faster he will be back on the field, just have to hope it heals right!

Maybe it's a good thing if he misses the first four weeks...just saying...

A-freakin'MEN to that! :horror:

In the event this does happen, I think the Steelers would be wise to keep Lefty around.

If he has surgery, it won't be until after the season. I imagine similar to Tom Brady when he had surgery on his foot.

From what I understand Brady had to reschedule several pedicures due that surgery....foot injuries are hell.

Encouraged by Brett Favre's ability to pull out one more strong season and Tiki Barber trying to come out of retirement, I've heard that Terry Bradshaw might be available for spot duty...LOL

Ben doesn't mind playing through pain, he just wants us to know it though. :chuckle:

You would think by now that Ben would have had surgery if he really needed it.

Count Steeler

Again, another positive for our team, due to the strike/lockout. Ben has had time to let his foot heal. I'm hoping whatever surgery would be required could be postponed until we know what is happening with this season. Ben has certainly he can play through pain.

#41, what a crock. #1 in guts and determination.

"I could have had surgery, but according to the doctors it would have been a really nasty process because of where the break was," Roethlisberger said. "It was better off trying not to do anything. It's going to be something where we're just going to have to, in essence, play it by ear.

"If it continues to be as painful as it was at the end of last year, then I'm going to probably have to have the surgery."
Don't worry folks, he's not having surgery any time soon. If I understand this article correctly, his foot has almost fully healed, but if there is an issue, it will more than likely be taken care of AFTER the season. Just another case of "twisting" the facts to get hits on their article.

I also saw a video from a month ago of him playing in a charity B-ball game running up and down the court. He'll be ok.

This. If he needed surgery, he would have had it immediately after the superbowl. Dale Lolley made a big deal about Ben making excuses for losing the superbowl and I don't see that at all. He simply said what everyone already knew...it hurt like hell but he toughed it out.

Lolley earned an twitter unfollow from SU over that one. :upyours:

That's not the first time he's been completely negative about something. His crap will still show up on our page, someone we follow will retweet him. I just don't feel the need to support him with a follow.
