The "Dancing with the Stars" contestant was a passenger in a Honda Civic around 2 AM ... when LAPD officers flipped on their lights and sirens and pulled the car over.

Law enforcement sources tell us cops had run the license plate and noticed the car had been reported stolen. We're told police drew their weapons ... and ordered both Hines and the female driver out of the car and placed them both in handcuffs.

The female driver then explained ... SHE was the person who reported the car stolen in the first place after an incident involving a valet. But she got her car back ... and forgot to tell cops to call off the alert.

We're told the officers verified her story -- and eventually let both Hines and the driver leave without further incident. Law enforcement sources tell us Hines was VERY cooperative and understanding about the situation.

Absolutely HILARIOUS

These are actually the stories I like to hear about my players. Notice, 1. Hines was VERY cooperative. 2. In his response on facebook, he said that the police were "Just doing their job."

When you keep your head and let things play out, most of the time, they work out for the best. Hines even had the police singing his praises about cooperation. That, ladies and gentlemen, is called maturity.

As far as forgetting to report back to the police, I had a friend that did that as well. Found the car a few days later and was driving it. He was later on a roofing job in a bad part of town and took his .22 pistol with him, putting it in the car door pocket. The door was left open, he was up on a roof, and the cops came up and ran the plate.

The scene only got worse when his wife pulled up a bit later to find him in handcuffs with police aiming guns at him.

It'll be more than four.

Actual arrest = no suspension
Allegation = 4 games

This was a po-po mixup, not even an allegation.

Wrong, Ben will serve the 4 game suspension. James Harrison will pay $150,000. Pats* get 2 draft picks. Brett Favre will renew his Wrangler contract.

Apparently, he is now listed as 'single' - - he has been asked in several interviews and that has been the response for about a year now.....

I wonder why the cops zeroed in on the car - - sounds like a bit of 'profiling' to me.... Unless it is a really unique vehicle or the driver makes an error, they don't drive around running random license plates as a common practice....

Don't know - - I believe there is a photo of her earlier in this post - - I should have looked before I started this - - but everything I have read recently mentions his mom and his son and that he lists 'single' as his status.... Interesting.....

In some jurisdictions, they have scanners on the bumpers of police cars that read all the license plates and alert the cops to people who need to be pulled over. Dunno if LAPD has those.
