Good morning on May Day,
My colleague, Bob Smizik, called the Steelers’ draft ho-hum and indeed it was. Other than the first-round pick, Cameron Heyward, there wasn’t much to get excited about the Steelers draft. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good one.

We’ll find that out in, oh, around 2013 or so. In the meantime, there is room for any number of their draft picks to play in 2011. This will depend on three things: How soon the lockout ends and these rookies can join the team and start learning and practicing their craft, how they develop and the willingness of the coaching staff to let them play.

You may recall my interview with team president Art Rooney after the 2009 season. He declared that the Steelers needed to run the ball more effectively. He also made another statement, that the team needed to develop its younger players more quickly...........
