Makes a little sense, wouldn’t you say?

Carnell Lake made a second consecutive appearance in the media room this draft weekend to introduce his second new cornerback, Cortez Allen (http://pit.scout.com/a.z?s=68&p=8&c=1&nid=5384620).

Three hundred and four passing by an opposing quarterback, in a Super Bowl, will do that.

The Steelers drafted cornerback Curtis Brown (http://pit.scout.com/a.z?s=68&p=8&c=1&nid=5034456) on Friday night with their third-round pick, and then started up again yesterday with Allen, a 6-1½, 196-pounder from The Citadel.

Was Lake aware he was due this personnel upgrade when he was hired to coach the secondary a couple months ago?

Sounds good! He's got the potential to develop into something deadly (Cortez the Killer). I like that.

If Lake can mold him into the half the type of player that he was back in the day, then it's a good pick.

Allen moved into The Citadel’s starting lineup midway through his sophomore season. He manned the run-oriented “boundary” corner for the next 2½ seasons and allowed only 35 percent of passes targeted to his receiver to be caught.

35%? Wow. Isn't a shutdown corner in the nfl often 50 -60%?

So is that a fantastic stat?....or is there an explanation such as this is normal for college or Citadel played less competitive teams?

Lol Stats are Stats, its how the Broncos one year were the number one passing defense in the league. Because they were dead last in the running defense lol.
